It works both ways.

Comic. First frame is some random guy brushing his teeth in his bathroom. A soft chant can be heard, saying "Normie Gary". In the second frame, he disappears in thin air, his toothbrush suspended in the air. In the third frame, the man looks confused, surrounded in smoke, his toothbrush gone.
