What better way to kick off the spookiest month of the year than with ghoulish, gory, or otherwise monstrous dinosaurs? I'll be sharing spooky palaeoart alongside my usual palaeoart posts throughout the month to help get us into the Halloween mood!

A pair of yellow and black splotched Baryonyx messily dig into the torn viscera of a large-scaled, green Iguanodon.

A wrinkled, big-scaled Tyrannosaurus with a skin texture reminiscent of a latex Halloween mask. Its white teeth are fully exposed in a permanent grin, and the rear of its skull sports a huge ear hole.

A Tyrannosaurus with voluminous, bulky neck, rugose crenulated skin, and a light covering of thin, quilly filaments messily crushes the skull of a Triceratops. Blood and bone splinters spray in an explosion of gore as the rear portion of the herbivore's skull falls to the ground.

A draconic Allosaurus perches like a gargoyle atop the partially eaten carcass of an ornithopod. Its jaws drip with strips of bloody meat, and its aquiline eyes stare intensely. Its back is lined with spiny ridges that rise and fall along its dorsum, and its feet and hands clutch the carcass like a bird of prey's talons.

Pandora Stampede. Private commission depicting the wildlife of Pandora, the setting for the Avatar movies. A2 (42 x 59.5cm) piece that was very complicated and took a lot long than expected due to the number of elements and unfamiliar subject matter. But on the whole pretty enjoyable to do.
