Find me on TikTok/Reels/Shorts. Follow me on Instagram (but actually email list) Get to know me on threads/bsky. Special treats on YouTube. At least the online way. I’d still like to ride bikes / drink beers/coffees more.

It's crazy what's going on in the federal government right now. Massive massive and completely arbitrary layoffs. Probationary employees are those with less than one year of service (new grads, new hires) who are not yet under the same protections as the rest of feds www.reddit.com/r/fednews/co...

Thinking about DIY embroidering this logo onto some blank hats and making them available as a first attempt at some merch. What do you think would look better, black bird on white hat, white bird on black hat? some other color combo?

So I got a ps5 for my birthday (in December) my first real console since the ps2 I had in high school. Did flirt with a Switch for a bit to play Zelda during covid. Anyway I’ve lumbered through God of War for the last 2 months and just finished. (incredible, masterpiece, wow @ video games now)

Voice memos (I use TapeIt but whatever) to the rescue again. Today on my bike ride w the kids to school dropoff , both the melodies for the prechorus and CHORUS for a new song hit me while biking. Have had verse for weeks. Then…

dialed in a tone that would make gods weep - and then my three year old turned every knob on all my pedals, amp, and guitar. 🤣🤣🤣 kids, man. metal AF. 🤘🎸

In just a few days y’all made “Wool & Fur” my most played song on Bandcamp. thank you. It’s a darker song I wasn’t sure would land at all so I appreciate all of ya who’ve taken a chance on it. hits DSPs Friday (but without the super creepy B-side) 🙏🏻🙏🏻💙🐺 iamdavehawkins.bandcamp.com/album/wool-f...

The diversity and range of @iamdavehawkins.com catalogue is astounding... this one is excellent - dreamy, ethereal vibes that serve the stark text beautifully. And a real curveball of a middle section that sets us up for some proper spine chills as the chorus comes sauntering back. Check it out ->

19 miles of shuttling kids around to their weekend activities today and the car never left the garage. Beautiful day in Denver to make use of our trail and bikeway system.

Phew. Made it. I did dry January.. eh, I’m still chronically tired and had several headaches. Certainly saved some money. Honestly it was net good. I’d do it again. Anyway, cheers. Started feb with a nice bottle of Denver’s Law’s bourbon.

Last night I had this dream where I wrote a new song and I was so stoked about how hooky the melody in the chorus was. And then *still in the dream* realized it was just note-for-note the melody from "Vampire" by Olivia Rodrigo. Shucks. (also that song is an absolute banger)

Dave Hawkins @iamdavehawkins.com · 30/01/2025

new track "Wool & Fur" coming at you tomorrow where the bands camp. Exclusive instrumental B-side "Steel & Ash" also dropping along with it. 'tis winter - and I guess I just realized today this song kinda reminds me of Kratos from God of War. Anyway see ya tomorrow campers. ⛺🎺

Considering re-reading Developer Hegemony knowing what I now know about AI and how it’s changed my day-to-day as a software developer. The amount that these small 3-5 person teams could produce… I think has become staggering.

I legit had a dream last night where I used the Transit app to find the RTD bus I needed to take home from some random location in Denver. My brain is weird.

And it's off! Wow 18 months in the making for this one. I'm excited to share it with y'all, definitely a bit slower paced and a bit darker than the last several songs I've put out there.

About a day away from sending another song off to mix! This one's been simmering for a while...I wrote and recorded a demo 18 months ago. Finally picked it back up in November, and since it's very a winter song, I’m feeling the push to get it out now (especially with Denver sitting at a crisp -2°).
