It's the most obvious way for all the relatively culturally conservative religious groups who are already committed to the idea that God transcends gender to square that with their transphobia. It's just deeply disappointing that they're too lazy & unimaginative to even try it.

This election cycle had a certain amount of discourse about the idea that God is nonbinary, & I'm kinda wishing that one of the terrible people involved had had the creativity to stake out the position that *only* God is nonbinary & that we human enbies are presuming to do what's reserved for God.

I grant that it's not a compelling majority and I am sorry that I overstated that, but it gets us well beyond the claim that transmascs are never even mentioned, and, again, see the Atlantic article or virtually the entire ROGD discourse in the respectable centrist press.

Indeed. And note that the Cass Report was cited in, for example, the SCOTUS decision on US v. Skrmetti, a pretty damn significant US judicial decisions on gender affirming care for trans youth, so this phenomenon is present on both sides of the Atlantic.

Like, look, Keira Bell is one of the world's most famous anti-trans detransitioners. The ROGD discourse has from its outset been extremely focused on transmasc/AFAB cases has been widely referenced by mainstream transphobes across wide areas of life.
