Happy National Coming Out Day! It's surreal- as a parent, educator, & queer person- to meet young people that have never been closeted even once in their entire lives. My kids struggle to comprehend the fear I felt at my first coming out 20 years ago. I'm so glad.

I'm an adorable, compassionate meanie who will either love you for standing up for justice or heap insults in your head for being a disgusting bigot. My brain houses worlds of info or a card catalogue of how to reach that info. And the cats are cute.

Junior is a large, fat, tuxedo-patterned black and white cat who inexplicably likes me, even though I constantly tell him that he can't have Midge's (not in photo) feed. Long white whiskers and a white-booted paw are featured in this photo of him hugging my leg whilst sleeping. He has a diamond-shaped white spot on his nose.

Macho looks up, probably at an insect that he would like to catch and eat. He is a gloriously tuxedo-patterned black and white cat who sports this amazing, wavy white blaze down his chest and tummy. It continues up his face by painting his nose white and leaving a blaze up between his eyes. His chin stands out in the midst of that white blaze by sporting a black goatee. His paws have white "boots."

Smoky is a petite silvery grey kitty who loves being active. Here, she is perched atop a clothes drying rack looking up at her prey (an insect).
