The smallest bat in North America is the canyon bat (Parastrellus hesperus), also called the western pipistrelle or American parastrelle. They weigh about 3–6 grams, the weight of a US penny, sheet of paper, or teaspoon of sugar. In flight, they're sometimes confused for moths or butterflies.

A tiny smoke-grey furry bat with darker face, ears and wings. The big story is the tiny size. The entire bat fits on a portion of a human's thumb, a tee-weeny tiny little guy.

This is a viral photo that's circulated for years, but I found it on r/BatFacts posted by u/Pardusco.

If you get diarrhoea or constipation side effects from doctor-prescribed iron supplements (usually ferrous sulphate or ferrous fumarate), iron bisglycinate is easier on the body to absorb and still works well afaik! It's my go-to bc my tummy can't handle the ferrous options.

Obsessed with this Moche barn owl jug from 200–500 CE that I came across on the Met website. So expressive and lifelike. IMO the best pottery in the world comes from the ancient indigenous peoples of Peru—if you're not familiar, Moche and Nazca pottery is a great place to start.

A reddish jug in the shape of a barn owl leaning slightly forward. It has a curved handle that leads to the spout. It is quite lifelike and full of personality.
