Realms of Antiquity, Nox Archaist, Lords of Xulima (if you stretch the definition). The Magic Candle series on MS-DOS.

I did it. It feels surreal. Feels like just yesterday I was drawing my own versions of Kirby powers, or Mega Man bosses, never imagining that I would actually put a game on a Nintendo console some day... www.nintendo.com/us/store/pro... #gamedev #indiegame #nintendoswitch #indiegames

So about a certain youtuber. I understand that people want to protect his work because of its sheer intellectual value. By doing things you place intellectualism over feelings and dismiss why women cannot engage intellectually with the work of someone who had the potential to be a threat to them.

It also sucks that the thematics presented in these games got completely erased from the industry at large outside of few niches. Each time I look at the DOS library I'm reminded how varied games used in terms of themes and topics and likely more easier to grasp for people who are now 50-60+

I agree with you but it is also important to note that update_all allows user to not choose to not download AI cores and that the MAME cores that use it are vetted on a case by case basis. It sucks but at least the floodgates aren't completely open.

Very visible AI disclaimer in any case. Allow AI assisted work if reasonable and transparent, ban vibecoded garbage.

Today, I decided to dump all my thoughts about A.I. infecting the retro and Saturn scene into one cohesive article. In short, I am certifiably sick of this.

The best, most reliable resource re: which games are using generative AI, I’ve found, is not Steam but rather this community-authored, heavily annotated spreadsheet:

Are you still "building something about this" ? I'm someone who tries to do some note taking along with listening to podcasts when I can. I'd be very interested to try out something that can simplify my process or just talk about how I do things.

1600 x 1200 is also great if you have a higher resolution than 1080p, it's a native resolution for some older games and they look at their best. I frankly do not mind going back to 1360x768 or lower in some cases especially if the UI isn't scaling properly.

The PS2 are incredibly widespread as a device, what makes the difference is if they have been modded with FREE McBoot or not and have an external HD. I guess someone could track forums and vendors to see how widespread the practice is. They're pretty easy to come by on AliExpress for example.

Quick Switcher is native to Obsidian are so are Bases, which can be very helpful to show what kind of notes you have in a folder without installing more plugins. The big issue is that too many people don't master the basics and immediately reach out for plugins and get lost.

Snapping Snapper @hydrahydora.bsky.social · 05/03/2026
Ha ! It is because Obsidian wasn't really built with the idea that you should use your sidebar to search for notes ! Completely counterintuitive at first, but if you use plugins like the Quick Switcher or Omnisearch it will quickly start making sense.

Nope they've been very careful to hide the body count this time. That said, unlike sport matches history tends to reveal its results months, years or even decades later when people have perspective and people who investigate have done their job.

Individual PCs are going to get expensive for a while and Sony could potentially make sure to have access to costly components at a better price to mass produce their consoles and then sell them at a better value. So it makes sense.

I've given up on doing that once I realized I prefer playing a handful of games all at once in different genres that do not overlap with each other, yet all fit a particular mood.

Back to today. It happens that French colonial heritage has been questioned a lot recently, especially by french people who come from the former colonies and this has spiraled to become a focal point of the culture war in that country. It is in this context that Ex33 was made.

From a pure media analysis you can discuss for a long time in circles that were context matters. From a historical pow, "La Belle Epoque" is always seen with a degree of nostalgia in France and its colonial past buried between "mistakes were made" and "white men burden's" arguments.

Social medias are a good way to vent out the burdens our hearts. What about, just for once, not post anything, avoid that short burst of instant gratification. Instead live with the friction of a heart that ache and see how, despite it all, you can make something good blossom in your vicinity.

Honestly, AI slop PRs are becoming increasingly draining and demoralizing for #Godot maintainers. If you want to help, more funding so we can pay more maintainers to deal with the slop (on top of everything we do already) is the only viable solution I can think of: fund.godotengine.org

I'm playing Slave Zero (1999) on PC. A simple and fun mech game that overstays its welcome a bit. It was fun to make the game actually work on windows 10 and enjoy how it presents the scale of the mega city in which the whole game takes place. More here : bsky.app/profile/snap...

More Slave Zero, I've managed to play through the game without problems outside of a few sound issues that a reloaded save can easily fix. Nothing special about that game, but worth going through for the sense of scale of how big your mecha feel when you look down and tiny when you look up.

It is also a proof that the US gaming industry has been in retreat for a while and unable to change course. Which is sad because a lot of people worked hard for it to not happen, they just do not have any say in the final decisions.

To paraphrase a friend: stay on the path, make good things. Indie has always flourished in the face of AAA distraction. Times are bad, but let others deskill, pivot to nonsense or chase impossible outcomes. People really like playing videogames. Suits forget that every 6 months or so.

the immediate impact is one thing, but this is one of those weeks in the industry that's gonna ripple out over years, in ways we'll only learn about through reporting. so i guess i'm saying, now is a great time to support and read the work those reporters are doing, so they can chase it.
