I went to the Broncos game on Sunday. Throat was sore and scratchy afterward, OBVIOUSLY because I spent many hours yelling on defense. Except that then I developed a persistent cough. And today has been some of the worst Respiratory Bullshit I’ve dealt with in a long time.

After All The Things happening lately, I have no more travel until Thanksgiving. I get to be HOME. For MONTHS. (Beach, Worlds, football, all in fairly close proximity, with enough going on in between that it didn’t really feel like I got a break. Just got back from the last one today.)

My contact got super smudgy just as I was putting on mascara. The obvious conclusion is that I somehow managed to poke myself in the eye with the wand. I resisted the obvious conclusion. Until I had to take the lens out to deal with it. Did you know waterproof mascara is also fairly saline-proof?

My hand over a bathroom sink, with a contact lens in the palm. There’s a big honkin’ black splotch right in the middle of that lens.

Apparently this verb I couldn’t quite make out in the song “A Spotless Rose” is neither “blooming” nor “growing,” as I had reasonably guessed, but pulls a “why not both” and goes with…blowing. Which is definitely a thing that roses are known for. 🤔

I can already tell I’ll have to sing this one song in the car a lot and get it into muscle memory…Alto 1 is singing the staff labeled “mezzo,” which spends a lot of time on the D an octave above middle C, and it’s in my range but it *feels too high* and I keep thinking I’m in the wrong place.

Apparently when packing is too easy I don’t trust it. I keep feeling like I’ve forgotten something because I’m traveling to a place with basically the same weather as here so I didn’t have to reevaluate all of my clothing first, I can just…pack what I wear. Too easy. Deeply suspicious.
