IT's cowardly to act like you can't tell a story about war because of "current events" when you can load up damn near any Front Mission game and Pakistan is on the verge of war with India, Venezuela is being invaded by the US, and vague eastern european countries are at war in every single game.

Fortune's Weave gives the player a lot of tools to cut through tediousness, I don't think it avoids it, there's a lot of changes I'd make to how certain systems function or where options are placed on menus etc, but skips, experience boosts, cheaper items etc make things snappy.

Advice for playing Fortune’s Weave: In the early parts of the game the vast majority of the stuff you find on the ground is useless and it’s a waste of your time tracking it all down. The Inn usually has 1 good item, the low town bar always has a few. Otherwise just pick up what you see naturally.

I recently finished a game about a historical figure from the Edo period that fights against a bunch of people from the Heian period, is focused on counter, parry and deflection combat using katanas, in Kyoto, has shrines that you save at, which also respawn enemies, and you absorb souls.

Me and my friend were joking about getting old and what things would look like if OOT and Starfox got remade every 15 years, and that got us thinking about what games came out 15 years before we were born. It's interesting to think about, and makes me look at things from a new perspective.
