I think, in general, Western humanities has divested from philology and material textual training. There are probably only a handful of people on campus who I trust to talk about books as objects relating to their area of study. And a handful is probably optimistic.

I finally went to the Center of Islamic Civilisation in Tashkent and by Islamic they actually mean “Uzbek” and at 425,000 som ($36!) I was expecting a lot more than a series of incessant A.I.-generated videos that said they did at least have a great selection of manuscripts 😊

Turns out Apple Maps lets you leave a report if something on its map is wrong and needs correction. So I submitted a report about Lake Ontario. Would be a shame if lots of people flood the service with similar reports.
