Thank you to everyone who has followed us here on Bluesky. We work hard to promote our amazing contributors & to build community. The changes in social media have made it challenging to do a good job at this. We appreciate that you are sticking with us.

The most Pittsburgh of Pittsburgh days. This kind of morning. Tornado warning by nightfall.

A vivid, abstract art piece. Bright orange pigment forms a rectangular block with fluid edges. Black pigment melts into the top edge. The block is gashed by strokes of pink which are—in turn—slashed with smaller, linear strokes of black.

love a good “O” in a poem, little fearless halo, the line’s volume knob turned all the way up, the stanza’s submarine window through which we glimpse an ocean of thought and feeling

MATINS
You want to know how I spend my time?
I walk the front lawn, pretending to be weeding. You ought to know I'm never weeding, on my knees, pulling clumps of clover from the flower beds: in fact I'm looking for courage, for some evidence my life will change, though it takes forever, checking each clump for the symbolic
leaf, and soon the summer is ending, already the leaves turning, always the sick trees going first, the dying turning
brilliant yellow, while a few dark birds perform their curfew of music. You want to see my hands?
As empty now as at the first note.
Or was the point always to continue without a sign?

What a loss to the college, its alumni, the journal staff, and the literary community. From brief interactions, Mark Drew was a particularly thoughtful and hands-on editor and it showed in the quality of the publication.

I always wake up after an intense night of doing submissions ravenous to read some actual good poems. Reading Audre Lorde this morning...this snippet is from the close of her poem "Touring."
A selection of text from the poem "Touring" by Audre Lorde:

"I leave poems behind me
dropping them like dark seeds that
I will never harvest
that I will never mourn
If they are destroyed
they pay for a gift
I have not accepted.

Coming in and out of cities
untouched by their magic
I think without feeling
this is what men do
who try for some connection
and fail
and leave
five dollars on the table."

Just finished "The Call of Paradise" by @majda.bsky.social out from Two Sylvias. Really love the musical references in this book (as in this snippet from "Under the Moon") twosylviaspress.com/the-call-of-...
Small section of the poem "Under the Moon" by Majda Gama, which begins

"My twenties were trance-based. I worked on my moontan
& listened to Underworld, to the Rabbit in the Moon."
