Really interesting about planting mulberries for silk. We’re proud of ours on Waterside, Knaresborough, reputedly planted by James I. Quite a contrast with the town’s flax and linen heritage! Still fruiting, too. #OnePlaceWednesday

Market towns didn’t just serve themselves, they influenced the surrounding villages too. Before railways transformed travel & trade, local economies revolved around these centres. An invaluable perspective when studying the history of any place, including #Rillington. #OnePlaceStudy #LocalHistory
