Rewatching 1994's STREETFIGHTER. I've only seen it once before and thought it was fun, but this time it's hitting different and I kinda love it? It's the closest the 90s actually got to BATMAN: THE MOVIE and that's one of the greatest compliments I can give a movie.

I dunno. The argument is often centred on how AI will steal money from artists, so it's a bit weird to defend a practice that also stole money from artists. I've seen all the defences of personal use piracy and they've always struck me as self-serving rather than convincing. 🤣

I get the initial note about hypocrisy but a lot of replies seem to suggest that people who are (justifiably) enraged by the idea of AI companies stealing artists works were just fine with stealing artists work via Napster'Limewire back in the day. "It's only piracy when people I don't like do it!"

That's not true. My loner tendencies were more the result of nurture than nature. I like to think that with less bullying and more acceptance in my youth, I'd be as socially inclined as my instincts want me to be but my experience precludes.

In a previous episode I talked about MASK OF MURDER, which was a wannabe giallo made by Swedes but set in Canada and I'm already getting the sense that THIRST is an Australian giallo, which is just as absurd to me. I believe it could work but the degree of difficulty is HIGH.

That movie's title is a lie btw. The premise is all the cheerleaders charge dudes for sex to earn money so Debbie can go to Dallas to try out for the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. She doesn't actually get there by the time the movie ends. It's worse than JASON TAKES MANHATTEN.

I feel like this movie doesn't even need the supernatural eco-horror angle to really sell how diumb camping is. Not to kink-shame, but I will genuinely never understand why people enjoy sleeping in tents and going to the bathroom outside.

One of the ways the movie shows us that the woman is a jerk is how she treat’s her partner’s dog as an annoying inconvenience. It makes me wonder if the people out there who hate pets/animals appreciate how this makes them the bad guys in the cinema of life?
