It will be extremely funny and poetic if the major factor in the NCAA losing a wave of lawsuits over player eligibility is that the NCAA did not actually put anything in the new bylaw that makes class of 2022 HS grads not eligible for the 5 in 5 rule. They just put it in the first press release

I’d say Louisville definitely competes for a top 2 spot in the ACC each year. They have gotten there more often than Miami has since Brohm took over! Miami got fortunate vs ND last year and that landed them in the Playoff.

It is VERY hard to make a 12 team playoff in the ACC unless you massively outspend the conference. You basically need to win the conference or be top-10 nationally, and come out on the good side of most of your 3-4 toughest games. If you aren’t a 90%+ favorite in 8 games or more, you need luck.

I think it’s pretty impressive that UofL is a better football program than VaTech, GaTech, Cal, UNC, NC State who are conf rivals all spending around or more than Louisville. If Louisville was spending more than Clemson and only outspent by Miami, I’d question the return.

Yeah, you can’t point to the 30th highest NIL spend on football as a driver of expectations. Louisville has been as good or better than almost everyone who spends about what they do, but they’d have to massively overachieve their spend. That level of spend is table stakes for P4 college football.
