Happy #Caturday I pulled out the last weapon in our arsenal to appease Fergus, my 14 yr old boss cat, and gave him catnip. Blink convinced the grouch to share. She's very very stoned and convinced the track ball will come to her. Eventually.

I have had a long serious discussion with Blink during which I explained the difference between Olympic curling stones and a Command Module splashing down in the ocean. She insists that she will not try to interfere with the direction during descent. Duff has assured me he is supervising.

Blink was not exactly angry but annoyed with me this morning. I finally went to her to try and make amends for whatever I'd done. She looked at me, jumped down and led me across house and nudged a dead mouse I hadn't noticed. I disposed of it and rewarded her. I also apologized for my stupidity.

For those who don't know my Island home has no ferry access to the Canadian mainland. We have to cross a bridge and drive through Maine. A friend came back from St John yesterday and ICE was at the border when he crossed. That's new. This rock is uniformly beige. White privilege meant no hassle.

I've made a number of seemingly (to family & friends) random choices in my life. Don't regret any of them. But The 2 smartest decisions I ever made: 1. Pack up car and drive 5660.13 km (3507.14 miles) to live on an island I'd never visited before, and 2. Buy ice cleats.
