A 2026 study by TMU examined~ 100,000 eviction filings in Toronto between 2016 - 2021. Eviction filings were highest in Black-majority neighbourhoods where corporate/ institutional owners treat housing as an investment asset. Some eviction rates were 36 for every 100 rental units.

More confirmation that Doug Ford is ripping out the spine of Toronto’s bike network, not sections on the edge. Feels very personal to me. That’s the stretch (the 2016 Bloor pilot project) where I really started to get into urban cycling for transportation.

Biking to the metro without having to worry about theft. Going for a run and biking back. Walking somewhere, it starts to rain, then hopping on a bike to arrive faster. Bike share *completely* changed my mobility. I can take a bike anywhere with zero cost for each ride ($20 monthly membership).

Vancouver’s West End is the densest neighbourhood in Canada. Its mix of housing includes lots of apartment towers. I highly recommend anyone who thinks tall buildings ruin neighbourhoods to visit. It really is a nice experience.
