When I first read the Two Towers, the cover had an image of the Argonath. So I of course thought the title referred to those two statues and i was like weird those are clearly statues but they have the size. Not until recently did I realize that the title referred to Orthanc and barad-dur.

I think it shouldn't be either or. Specific moves outcomes vs just do a hard move. The specific outcomes are fine but if they don't fit with the fiction then you should ignore them and come up with your own outcomes. Or If they fit but you have a better idea then use your idea instead....

@bankuei.bsky.social what I do is I use an infinite whiteboard, drag and drop the PDF in and the lock it in place and write on top of it. All the sheets are in there, I keep all the info there, the players keep their notes there, maps you can just drag and drop in, tokens etc I'm using Miro.

Have you read a pbta game and the rules say this is how you do a soft move and this is how you do a hard move and these are the MC principles etc. Then you look at a move and it says if you miss do these specific things, in fact many moves are like that. And now you are wondering... T

It's called failure for some reason in many PBTA games but it's not necessarily failure, it's within the MC's and players purview to describe a "failed" roll where the players succeeds but something bad happens. The rolls in PBTA are not task resolution they are does something interesting happen..
