Oof, spilled some tears at the thrilling new EDM musical THE HEART, about a race against the clock to complete a transplant. Fantastic cast, choreography, and music. One of the best new shows I've seen in a while. Here's a montage from the out-of-town La Jolla tryout: youtu.be/YSCylOv629Y

GOOD TIME CHARLIE @ the Public Theatre. Somehow this is my first ever visit to Martinson stage within #TonightsBill

Out for dinner with @tinmanic.bsky.social for our 13th / 23rd anniversary and Swarm told me it was our 1500th check in together (which actually seems low after so many years)

Picked up new glasses Friday but haven’t been able to see as far. Went back today and it turned out they used the wrong prescription, so I wasn’t just imagining it 🤷‍♂️ 🤓

Percentages are meaningless given all the misery this administration is putting the country through, but it’s still nice to see a round number. I knew Trump 2.0 would be bad when I built this bot, but the new ways it’s bad continue to surprise me.

Very sad to hear of Dolly Parton's passing. She was a truly remarkable human in ways big & small that we'll probably continue to learn about. My family went to Dollywood a bunch while I was growing up. During my last trip in 2012, my dad, brothers, and I recreated a favorite photo from the 80s.

every billionaire & tech mogul, they all want to be adored & celebrated without doing the things Dolly did with a fraction of the power & money. What she had, she gave away. I'm sure she was comfortable (& that's good!). But she just relentlessly helped. It's not that difficult. Love. Care. Help. 💚🌸

Some stars are sui generis, literally inimitable. They create their own space in the culture, their own genre of human. And when they're gone, no one fills their shoes. There's no "next" Fred Astaire or Mae West or Audrey Hepburn. There will be no "next" Dolly Parton. Even the idea is absurd.

Even my showing in the tiniest AMC theatre by Lincoln Center wasn’t full. I thought the shoot was fantastic and appreciated the short documentary intro.

Matt Kingston 🎯 @hitormiss.org · 16/08/2026

Did you just get of of the noon showing at Lincoln Square too? I thought it was a great pro-shot. I’m not usually into pop music, but I’ve been obsessed with SIX from the original studio cast rec and saw it the last night before Broadway shut down (even though I knew an usher tested + for Covid-19)

Slight, but enjoyable. Much more well written than it needed to be and a fantastic cast. I caught musical allusions to MY FAIR LADY, HUNCHBACK, and others.

Bummer we’re not getting more mysteries with her. While like most Netflix shows it could have been shorter/tighter, the production design for the White House set alone makes it worth watching. I remember seeing some cool BTS videos when it came out. www.housebeautiful.com/lifestyle/en...

HADESTOWN may be the best theatrical taping I’ve ever seen. Not my favorite musical and the closeup style wouldn’t work for every show, but this was 💯. And a great decision to tape it in the smaller London theatre vs. on Broadway.

Same. I enjoyed the original off-bway cast but the production was so cheap with basically no set. A head scratcher that it’s gone on to so much success…

Was just waiting for the 1 train at 96 & two women got into a fight and one snatched off the other’s wig and threw it on the tracks. People flagged the approaching train to stop and she climbed onto the tracks to get it. Of course there were no cops standing around when you actually needed them.

Matt Kingston 🎯 @hitormiss.org · 17/06/2026

Definitely remember this. Of course the original British version was much better and ran 3 seasons or so.

I know the new owners renamed it, but it will always be ABSOLUTE BAGEL

I went in expecting a fun romantic comedy about a blind date and it was not that. At all.

This was a subject of much discussion at my Tony Awards party

I mean, it wouldn’t have won but it was the best element of the show (and nominating play underscoring in this category is soooooo lame). I would’ve voted for THE LOST BOYS

They should have nominated THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES
