Across Canada’s right-wing online ecosystem, social media creators are talking about Alberta separatism and watching the clicks roll in. A few are plausibly earning six figures pushing their grievance-driven ideologies. Emma Paling reports: thewalrus.ca/youtube-influenc...

Yes, that paper was so gross on so many levels. Supporting bibliometrics and research impact is part of my job, and we try to educate on appropriate use of quantitative measures. That was an egregious abuse of the h-index. Poor research from people claiming to call out poor research

Some people live in a universe where a minority woman mayor is very triggering. We saw this in Calgary with the white male rage against Jyoti Gondek. None of them could quite say what made her so bad, but there was a recall campaign against her, and she didn't win re-election.

If you are in Canada you can just walk into a pharmacy and get it - no need for a doctor prescription. It's not covered either way so you'll need insurance.

Alberta’s new classroom rules won’t benefit students
They amount to censorship of a different flavour rather than outright neutrality

Canada should be building up massive greenhouse capacity, relying on geothermal energy, across the country to grow our own food. Sovereignty means getting things right, and getting the hell away from reliance on the US for ALL THINGS.

Do we really need to explain to people that it is really, REALLY important to read to young children? Like, you, personally, need to read to your child - your voice, your face, your hand gestures, your lap, your arms, your closeness. What kind of parent doesn't know this in their bones?

Exactly. The supporters identify with the party a lot more than NDP supporters do, so when they hear "incompetent" they take it personally

Cities need to get organized and start defying this overreach. And start holding back the province's unpaid property taxes from the taxes you send them. That's money they owe!

"It’s worth noting the political context: Developers wanted greenfield projects but couldn’t win a city election, so they got the province to change the electoral rules to allow them to contribute more money to campaigns and form parties to pursue their ends."
