NEW: Americans will be able to use a new AI to apply for a passport, enroll in Medicare and look at government jobs — eventually. Services like these won’t be functional until 2027, though the administration rolled out America. gov with fanfare Tuesday. www.washingtonsun.com/whitehouse/t...

Every confusing city website and dead-end government portal makes New Yorkers trust their leaders less and less. It's time for City government to enter the 21st century.

A $3 @mta.info subway fare and some good Q train timing can buy you one hell of a view of the July 4th fireworks and the Brooklyn Bridge light show! Huge shoutout to the train operator for slow rolling over the Manhattan Bridge and the conductor for announcing it.

Maya Angelou on the joys of being edited
I’ve had the same editor since 1967. Many times he has said to me over the years or asked me, Why would you use a semicolon instead of a colon? And many times over the years I have said to him things like: I will never speak to you again. Forever. Goodbye. That is it. Thank you very much. And I leave. Then I read the piece and I think of his suggestions. I send him a telegram that says, OK, so you’re right. So what? Don’t ever mention this to me again. If you do, I will never speak to you again

hello, yes, Nintendo? I'd like to make a complaint to your pedantry department In the latest animal crossing update you added the gameboy item, however when you interact with it, its screen lights up. This is clearly an egregious error as the original Gameboy did NOT feature a lit screen.

This is also a problem of people not seeing/reading/sharing those stories. Journalists covering government at every level are writing those stories but they don't make as big as splash, so people think they aren't getting reported

The White House is creating a new assistant attorney general focused on fraud. One type of "fraud" the AAG will focus on -- people who are "defrauding the [US] by inciting violence against our law enforcement officers" This comes in the wake of the ICE shooting in Minneapolis.👇

Better idea: pass a comprehensive data privacy bill that applies across the board... and maybe *DON'T* mimic Chinese authoritarianism by creating a "Great Firewall" of apps that aren't allowed to operate here. You can actually fix things AND not abuse the 1st Amendment in one shot!
