StoryMachine is going analogue thanks to the 3D printers in the MakerSpace, University of London School of Advanced Study. Finally got this prototype of a printing block with the project logo looking decent and found a lovely #UrsulaKLeGuin allusion in the process

In medieval England, farmers wouldn't eat blackberries after Michaelmas Day, which marked the beginning of autumn. According to legend, the Devil fell from Heaven on this day and landed on a blackberry bush, which he cursed, spat, stomped, and possibly urinated on. #FairyTaleTuesday

It's rumoured there was once a government team monitoring all of England's stone and wooden sleepers for signs of omenic twitching. While certain records do suggest that the Department Recording And Measuring Anomalous Statues (DRAMAS) once existed, there's no trace of it now.

Two bits of folklore that could arguably only exist in the current historical moment. Magical thinking cheek by jowl with biology, conservation efforts and extreme sports. The rational and the fantastic as complementary modes of experience.
two examples of digital folklore in text form: one arguing that cave divers are driven by a parasite to go into caves and feed whatever lives there, the other suggesting that rivers are a narrative construct to justify the introduction of more beavers into the UK

mooncustafer mentions blue curtains as a staple of literary analysis. I've met this example several times, the first being during my own schooling 20odd yrs ago. Those curtains were about askribing unnecessary meaning to the mundane in the writing of... Pushkin. Anyone know where they come from?
