Comme aux USA, on commence à voir en France une "reactive orthodoxy", c'est-à-dire des gens qui veulent entrer dans l'Église orthodoxe pour des raisons idéologiques. Il y a une très belle mise au point à ce sujet dans la dernière lettre du vicariat français du Patriarcat Œcuménique.

nous nous réjouissons de voir arriver des jeunes dans la plupart de nos paroisses, demandant
le baptême ou à entrer dans la communion de l’église orthodoxe. les motivations de ces jeunes
sont multiples. le sentiment d’absence de sens à la vie ou de futur de nos sociétés y contribue.
malheureusement, pour certains, l’engagement dans l’église orthodoxe peut être aussi motivé par des
idéologies nationalistes, fondamentalistes, ou intégristes entraînant des tensions dans certaines de
nos communautés. nous reproduisons ici un appel du père jean drancourt, recteur de la paroisse de
colombelles (près de caen), qui s’adresse aux jeunes, les invitant à ne pas céder à la tentation de la
haine mais à promouvoir la vraie foi orthodoxe.
Une nouvelle fois, je veux attirer l’attention de chacun
sur ce qui se passe sur certains réseaux sociaux et auquel
notre paroisse peut être associée malgré elle.
Des personnes, souvent des jeunes, prennent contact
avec l’orthodoxie par l’intermédiaire de la paroisse et
disent vouloir devenir orthodoxes, alors que sur leurs
réseaux, ils affichent de soi-disant « valeurs » totalement
incompatibles avec l’Évangile du Christ.
Il apparaît clairement que ces personnes pensent pou-
voir trouver dans l’Église orthodoxe un relais pour leurs
conceptions haineuses, bellicistes et raciales, véhicu-
lant les pires exemples de ce que l’humanité déchue
peut générer, de ceux qui remplissent les poubelles de
l’histoire récente. Cette paroisse s’opposera toujours et
fermement à cette grossière manipulation.
Ces personnes n’ont rien à faire dans la paroisse, tant qu’elles ne se seront pas converties à ce qui fonde l’Église :
l’Amour du Christ pour le genre humain, dans sa totalité.
On ne peut devenir chrétien orthodoxe avec une telle
haine dans le cœur, ce serait un véritable blasphème.
