In the early 1980’s, we began preparing separate spread wings to help illustrate features of birds that had never been accurately drawn. Today our collection of spread wings is the largest in the world, preserving more than 40,000 specimens.

🚨New paper alert!🚨 (only slightly delayed). I'm proud to have been a part of this cool work led by Dr. Marco Rego. Marco assembled a massive dataset of bird distributional information to test long-standing ideas about how rivers serve as taxon boundaries in the Amazon Basin. Check out those maps!

The PRFB (and GRFP) is a major reason why I, a Mexican American first-generation college student, am lucky enough to now be a professor. It's heartbreaking to see these programs rolled back, even if it ends up being temporary.
