"Choose Paints, Not Prompts" explores our constant struggle to not just survive, but outlast a techno-oligarchy we've been thrust into since the corporatization of the internet. All people - but especially artists and creatives - are now having to make a choice: submit to the breakneck pace of the world and become consumed by its insatiable need for content and information at the expense of their humanity... Or lean into the slower, "less convenient" side of life, putting their humanity first.

Of course, there is nuance within those choices. It's nearly impossible to live without the internet these days, and it's still a tool that can be used positively, and with great success! But I, for one, will never use generative AI in anything, nor will I use social media any more than I have to to ensure my art reaches its audience.

Early Colour WIP. Alcohol markers were used as an underlayer, then acrylic paint markers were used on top. I alternated between them to get the finished look.

The finished piece! The red sticker means the piece successfully sold.

A woman with pink hair, a pastel pink outfit, and covered in paint splotches turns back towards the viewer with a defiant glare. She is surrounded by a bleak landscape of concrete, Cybertrucks, and a massive wall of AI-generated ads. One of them, which reads "Secure Your Soul", is a nod to the Cyberpunk universe created by Michael Pondsmith.
