i can only hope that, by moving away from SRC, folks don't lock all their guides and resources behind EVEN MORE discord server invites. please make that stuff public!! there are still ways to host things on the internet for free!!!

in the meantime im starting to manually backup some leaderboards on spreadsheets. this is all data that was available under the *irrevocable* CC license (and the primary data is hosted on other platforms anyway) so they can't actually do anything about it

y'know, i think the way the speedrun community currently interacts with leaderboards and stores information as a whole is not great. just something to think about.

Leaderboards need to be community owned. The nerve of some private company to march into our hobby and act like they own our creative property, having contributed nothing other than hosting glorified spreadsheets, is appalling. Even if they walk this back again, it’s probably high time to ditch SRC

fool me twice, shame on me, i guess. src has lost what little remained of my trust. i think it's time we move to a different platform, regardless of if they revert this change or not. they've shown their hand too many times at this point.

Per Creative Commons: "As a licensor, you may stop distributing under the CC license at any time, but anyone who has access to a copy of the material may continue to redistribute it under the CC license terms." SRC is trying to put toothpaste back in a monetized tube. We should respond accordingly.

SRC changed their terms of use yesterday, and released a news post with an FAQ. They make it sound like not a big deal. It's a big deal. The Creative Commons licence is gone. They claim ownership over the data now. Thread about what this means, and what we can do about it 🧵

Call me a dirty socialist if you want, but I think every living being should have access a healthcare safety net regardless of how much they work, go to school, etc. Every single person. It's ridiculous that people need to reach certain "requirements" in order to have a chance at healthcare.

Lately a lot of AI "discourse" has been going around in the Pokemon romhacking community. For a bit, things seemed to be on the right track, but it was instantly backpedaled which really disappointed me. Anyways Too Many Productions has never, and will never use AI for our projects. I hate AI.

Please help. People's needs always increase this time of year but this year is even greater than usual, and when we run out of tents people are sleeping unsheltered. Finances are tight for everyone but how far are any of us from homelessness?

Weeknight drop-ins have tripled we are tired and out of money. Please donate via the links in our bio so we can continue to support unhoused people.

We cannot keep up with the demand caused by current situations in both Minneapolis and St. Paul, we need financial support.

$18K would allow us to give out additional $0.10 weekly (tent tarp sleeping bag hygiene kit undies) per week through February.
