Productivity as an adult is just an endless process of applying new psychological tricks and operant conditioning to yourself until an acceptable number of tasks are completed.

Ok so obvious follow up question to Sam: "Exactly how many dead people are you ok with? How many dead children are enough to usher in the the benefits of AI?"

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.” - H.L. Mencken

Maybe it's just me, but if I owned a big AI company where the software I made was responsible for several major felonies that I have somehow avoided responsibility for by blaming the software for any wrongdoing, I would not then try to collect a prize based on that softwares "successes".

Honestly I think this is a theory of great explanatory power. It feels a bit like how Dadaism appeared in response to the horrors of two world wars, and the sense that every story about what matters and how life was supposed to work was meaningless, so art may as well be meaningless too.

I used to live in PKD’s old house in Berkeley, where he lived when he wrote Valis. The story I heard when moving in was that in one day, through my new mail slot, he received 17 rejection notices. The struggle was real.

The contradiction she points out resolves itself the moment you realize that when they say The Economy, they’re only referring to the stock market, I.e. the top 10%. They don’t give a shit about people who actually work for a living and never have.

Generative AI is the tool and aesthetic of fascism, and that aesthetic only appeals to middle aged divorced sex predators, billionaires, guys who drive cybertrucks, and guys who don't tip. It's the aesthetic of losers, miserable assholes, and guys with a sexual allegations section in their wiki.

President Obama once delivered a speech in an open field for four hours during a thunderstorm while leaning against a very tall, pointy metal pole. President Trump should do the same, but for six hours, to demonstrate his strength.

It continues to be perverse that those with the least power to murder millions are at most risk of the barbarism of the death penalty, while those with power to murder millions are entirely immune not only from that penalty, but even any discontinuance of reward. www.the-reframe.com/the-cost-of-...

Lyft driver on route to airport is a die hard trumper, trying to explain how Trump is fixing everything. And his response to very reasonable pushback on any of his assertions was to threaten to drop me off on the side of the freeway. So, now we are listening to music and not talking.
