Marsh cinquefoil
Photo of Marsh cinquefoil flower sticking up above its green mat of leaves. Marsh cinquefoil is a whine red flower with rough pointy petals (if they are anatomically petals?). Rain drops rest in the center of the flower and on the leaves. Out of focus on the horizon pine trees outline the flower.

Anyone know who is making leaf homes in trees? In Dillingham Alaska. Wasn’t ready to fully open one up.
White skin hand holding two leaves silked together One leave pealed back revealing caterpillar poop and more webbing Another leaf folded around itself with silk like material that an insect would make. Rolled leaf shelter

Two X-Men whose names I don’t recall from a recent run are walking outside. As the person in the background looks admiringly at the person walking ahead of them in the foreground they listen as the person in front says, “Most of us just want to survive and maybe bite off a chunk of our dreams. But a few egomaniacs want everything for themselves. Forget mutants versus humans – – the real fight is everyone against the oligarchs.“

"No Amount of Hand-Washing Can Make COVID-19 a Seasonal Virus" Published: 14 August, 2024 "The left image shows that SARS-CoV-2 propagated to most organs, whereas the right image shows that influenza was mostly confined to the liver and lungs" Source: whn.global/scientific/n...
Two 3D-imaged mice comparing how SARS-CoV-2 and influenza spread through the body. The left image, labeled Spike S1, shows red fluorescent signals across many organs, indicating that SARS-CoV-2 propagated widely throughout the body. The right image, labeled Influenza HA, shows red signals largely limited to the lungs and liver, demonstrating influenza’s more localized infection pattern. The figure caption notes that SARS-CoV-2 affects multiple organs, unlike influenza.

Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance. The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income. They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive. Wanna fix fraud and abuse? Fix that.

There are a variety of climate-driven environmental threats to Alaska's rural communities, and local communities do not have the capacity to address them alone. The longer we wait for mitigation funding, the more displacement happens and the more rural, Indigenous communities are fragmented.
