Emmanuel Macron amplifying Pope Leo XIV from Metz is the right call. The first U.S.-born pope told France his father was in Normandy during the Second World War and said he wants to help build “a strong and united Europe.” Every strongman watching should take note.

Women should not have to prostrate themselves before society to show why we need single-sex services when the reasons why have been known about for centuries. Take prisons and the work of Elizabeth Fry. We do not have to re-justify why we need to keep males out of designated female spaces.

Could you extend this principle of 'bearing some of the costs of equality' to mean women get dignity, privacy & safety and bio males who identify as women and really want to get in women's spaces recognise that compromises women's dignity etc and so bear the burden of not satisfying their desires?

Last year I met with officials from the Electoral Commission and warned them that we were just months away from the sort of political donations that we have just seen Reform attract. I warned them that we faced seeing parties being bought like football clubs - as playthings for billionaires.

Successive governments have denied WASPI Women the justice they are due. I have long supported the WASPI campaign, so I was pleased to attend their stall at Conference. I will continue to fight for WASPI women and push the Government to finally give them the compensation they deserve.

Britain feels broken because it is being held back. People feel powerless, and they can't hold the powerful to account. Liberal Democrats want to change our politics so that, together, we can fix our country.

A week on from the Assisted Dying Bill debate, I spoke to The Times about the dangers within that Bill and the importance of improving access to good palliative care. www.thetimes.com/life-style/health-…
'The MP with terminal cancer who spoke against assisted dying. Ashley Dalton, the former health minister, admits to feeling grief, depression and fear in the face of death. She tells Susannah Jowitt why she still fought the bill'. A photo of Ashley wearing a blue suit is underneath the text.

For all of the whining about the triple lock the reality remains that British state pensions are both less generous and accordingly more ’affordable’ than most peer nations. Which is why the triple lock was brought in in the first place.

My values set out here - of the common good, of solidarity first with those with less power and agency, of universalism and a healthy scepticism of the state - those lead me to oppose assisted dying.

The Bill that was brought to us today was not safe.  If it had passed as it was, vulnerable people would have been at very real risk of coercion into assisted dying or out of fear of being a burden.   We need to prioritise ensuring equal access to our world class palliative care across the country.

Honestly think "we must pass the assisted dying bill because popular opinion supports assisted dying" is one of the weakest arguments for it. Popular opinion supports all kinds of things we should not enable, like bringing back hanging. If it's a bad bill, parliament must do its job & scrutinise it

Nazism/Fascism disregards the human person according to certain criteria. Gained a foothold in 1930s Germany in elections. In 1935, the Voluntary Euthanasia Legalisation Society founded in England. Known now as 'dignity in dying' it is campaigning for assisted suicide. MPs vote on 11th Sept.
