At sunrise on Bowman Lake, the first light comes quietly over the mountains, finding the clouds before it reaches the dark forest below. Gold and rose spread along the eastern sky, while the ridges remain in blue shadow, holding for a little longer to the night.

The lake receives the morning slowly. A narrow path of amber light crosses the water, and near the shore the brightening sky appears again in reflection, wavering gently against the darkness.

There is an ancient assurance in such a morning. The sun returns without announcement, the mountains accept its light, and the lake gives it back. For a little while, one may simply stand among these things and remember that each new day is given before anything is asked of us.

This morning, the Coldstream Guards at Buckingham Palace performed a tribute to Dolly Parton. The last time I remember the guards at the palace honoring the memory of an American entertainer was when they paid tribute to Aretha Franklin after she passed away.

Happy Thursday Everyone 🙏 A little #Montana #Scape Sunrise

The sun is just beginning to rise behind the distant Montana ridgeline, its first brilliant edge appearing as a narrow flare of molten orange along the horizon. Above it, the approaching daylight spreads upward through bands of scarlet, coral, rose, and violet, gradually fading into the cooler blue of the morning sky.

Low clouds catch the earliest sunlight along their edges, glowing orange and pink against deeper purple-gray shadows. Higher overhead, a broad bank of blue cloud remains untouched by the sun, dark and substantial beneath, while its upper margins break apart into softer, wind-shaped wisps.

The land below is still held in the darkness of night. Successive mountain ridges appear as deep blue silhouettes, their contours becoming softer with distance, while the foreground remains almost completely black. Between the shadowed mountains and the immense cloud-filled sky, that small point of rising sun marks the arrival of morning—the first concentrated light of day beginning to spread across the landscape.
