I will note that Trump, SecDef, SouthCom, etc have been posted snuff films for many months now. Killing for content is a feature of this administration's use of force.

The middle class doesn’t exist anymore. Unless you’re very wealthy, you are far closer to becoming homeless and/or bankrupt than you realize. It can happen in an instant and can be nearly impossible to recover from. Better social safety nets benefit everyone.

I am currently being dogged by the local landlord lobby because I have made myself the biggest pain in the ass as has the community. It was never gonna be easy. They were always going to make it hard. So poop your poops and keep going.

The biggest miscalculation of the Trumpists is about human nature. They assume we're all selfish and cowardly and can be cowed into silence or submission or surrender, which is to say they seem to base their version of human nature partly on themselves and partly on their scorn for the rest of us.

I think this is why we're seeing 'but they're paid protestors' about Minnesota (although even I, as a Brit, can tell that's a very distinctive local accent). They can't compute that people who could keep quiet and remain safe are going outside to face danger for neighbours they might not even know.

I would like for people to realize that this isn't the first time protestors and advocates have been called "outside agitators." Happens all the time in Canada, whether it be protests for Indigenous rights or climate justice. Protestors as fringe element not tied to the interests of actual citizens

Alright, we've got a water capacity issue in #WatReg and #WRcouncil heard from many delegates on January 13th about this issue. You can watch the meeting here and/or follow along on this (potentially very long!) thread. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZbM...

NEW: China is testing a megawatt-scale airborne wind system that captures stronger high-altitude winds, potentially producing up to 10× more energy with 40% less material and 30% lower costs. It could also be quickly deployed to supply emergency power after disasters.

People are interpreting this as Exxon telling Trump that he made a mistake, but if you listen to what they say, it's basically that the US needs to do more regime change so there are "investment protections". Chevron, who are already in Venezuela, are planning a production increase already

I love when people participate in their local government, and I wish more people would do it. Literally anyone can go to a regularly-scheduled public meeting and talk about a thing they care about, and you’d be surprised what a small group of engaged people can accomplish.

A point that Wallerestein made often: as overall US power declines, it overplays its best card—military force. But each time it does so, it accelerates the decline of its overall power. SeeVietnam, Iraq. Violent coercion is the strength of the weak.

I'm so tired. Greenland is Inuit btw. They are kin to arctic peoples who live in what are now modern day Alaska and the arctic Canada. Trump is talking openly about colonizing a people that have been already colonized (by Denmark) and who have been trying to become sovereign.

This. In all the political back and forth and media coverage it's appalling - and deeply colonizing - how little concern or voice has been given to Greenland's actual inhabitants, who are overwhelmingly Indigenous.

If you want to see real neo-colonialism in action, it's the US government attempting to take control or "buy" a territory that is controlled by indigenous people, who have fought for their own greater independence over the past few decades.
