There is just 1 week left to respond to the public consultation for the Draft Kent Mineral Sites Plan 2026. 🚨 If you haven't already responded, now's your chance to have a say about the future of Oaken Wood, where 41 hectares of ancient woodland are at risk of being destroyed for quarrying.

Stop locking people up unless they are a physical danger to the public and embed long-term policies that aim to address endemic socio-economic structural inequalities that are the root cause of a lot of crime. Stop criminalising poverty. Educate young lawbreakers instead of institutionalising them.

All good things must come to an end, they say... and tonight is the last episode of 'Hidden Treasures of the National Trust'. But the series concludes with a good one! We celebrate the legacies of two great designers and their passions, theatre and gardens, as we head to Nymans and Munstead Wood.
A large Arts and Crafts house set in gardens. The lawn running in front is flag and has a deep border by the house. There are large brick chimney stacks. The sky is blue and it is a sunny day.Looking through a gap in green leaves across a beautifully manicured garden towards a ruined manor house. The garden has shrubs, rockery and colourful plants on display. Those who know might recognise it as Nymans.

From 1 July anyone in the EU who buys a zine from me for £10 will now also have to pay a €3 import duty up front plus postage. Brexit has already wiped out 50% of my print sales and this is just rubbing salt in the wound. Well done Brexiters.

 Dear Customer,
 Sending parcels to the EU
As someone who has sent a parcel with us to the EU in the last
six months, we wanted to let you know that, trom 1 July 2026,
changes to EU import rules mean a duty will apply to all parcels
containing goods sent from Great Britain (excluding Northern
 Ireland) to EU countries.
What you may need to know
 • The duty doesn't apply to gifts under €45.
 • The €3 duty will apply per HS code, plus any EU handling
fees, to parcels valued at €150 or less.
 • The €3 duty, plus any EU handling fees, will apply to all
business-to-consumer goods under €150, including those
sold by non-EU sellers registered under Import One-Stop
 Shop (IOSS).
In most cases, it's all taken care of upfront
For most EU countries, you can pay all applicable EU charges at
the same time as buying your postage online. For a small number
of countries, the recipient may be asked to pay the duty and fees.

Irish TV to air Father Ted instead of Eurovision final in protest against Israel’s inclusion
National broadcaster RTÉ accused of antisemitism for decision to screen satirical 1996 Eurovision episode in boycott of contest It is considered one of the funniest episodes of a beloved sitcom, but the Father Ted storyline about Eurovision has been dragged into the row over Israel’s participation in this week’s song contest. Ireland’s national broadcaster, RTÉ, which is boycotting the competition in protest against Israel’s inclusion, will instead broadcast the 1996 episode A Song for Europe, in which the characters Father Ted and Father Dougal perform their song My Lovely Horse and earn nul points. Did you know that adding a pond is one of the best things you can do for wildlife in your garden? It doesn't have to be big - a washing up bowl or plant pot will do. Make sure it has sloping sides, isn't in direct sunlight and is filled with unchlorinated rainwater.
