"It's given a lot of people permission to be themselves, to not dream it, be it, which is the motto of the movie, really. I would like to be remembered for that." Farewell to Tim Curry (1946-2026) #RIP

RHPS and Tim Curry will always be so special to me for that moment. I've told this story to Barry Bostwick but I would have loved to tell it to Tim too.

None of us were out as queer yet. I hadn't even realized I was at the time. My parents were not so oblivious. In hindsight, this is such a gesture from my mom and dad to me and my friends of "we see you, we support you, you are safe here, now go and have fun."

One of my favorite foundational memories of my teenage years was the first time I went to see the Rocky Horror Picture Show. It was at the Capri in Jackson. My parents, veterans of midnight shows in the 80s, helped me pack the right props for me and my friends in a big brown paper grocery bag.

This is a beautiful story and also if you don't know every word to this song, you should treat yourself.

When I go to Richmond, Virginia one thing I can guarantee is that I will eat a meal at Mama J’s, hands down the best southern food we’ve gotten since moving from Mississippi. #rva

Probably. But a good movie for wallowing in your feelings when you need that for sure. 💜

You did hire people who mostly know what they're doing most of the time.

Making a recipe for green chili pickle from one of my Indian cookbooks. Multi day process. Today I reach the step of "heat 1 3/4 c mustard oil until smoking" to add to the pickle brine. Y'all I just mustard gassed my own house.

I was lucky to see Glen Hansard perform several times. Swell Season at the House of Blues New Orleans in 2009 is still probably the best live show I’ve ever seen. I had tickets to see Swell Season again last year but missed due to endo pain that day. Couldn’t have known it was my last chance.

When I got my first car (2007), my parents absolutely made sure I had a printed road atlas for all of Mississippi in my car. I did use it, too!!

just mad as fuck to be honest.

I have made a conscious effort in my own rhetoric to avoid painting men with a broad brush, to avoid othering language, to try not to be so derisive of men who aren't in my own personal trusted circle. To try to let more compassion into my heart. Some times though y'all don't deserve it.

If you think it is exhausting to hear women bring these issues up over and over again, boy howdy, consider being a woman! Consider being disappointed by your allies over, and over again.

This * gesticulates wildly at the Platner of it all * is why women have such a hard time trusting me. So many men are incapable of taking women's concerns seriously. They mock us for daring to be concerned in the first place. Even the "good ones" "on our side."
