This episode of @equalshope.bsky.social highlights what it is like to live the most adverse impacts of economic inequality - REALLY live it. Wanga brings this home in a very real way, underscoring how tackling inequality is critical to get our global future back on track, for all of us👇

How much money has Birmingham City Council spent on agency bin workers. Probably a lot more than it would have cost to not cut bin workers pay by £8000. 14 months of strike breaking by a labour council! Unbelievable and shameful. 😤 @bhamcitycouncil.bsky.social @brumlabour.bsky.social

I often hear Norway described as a gold standard with regards inequality, but what is the reality? Inherited wealth, a housing system that locks young people out of home ownership and deepening food insecurity mean Norway is not quite the paragon of equality we have all been led to believe 👇

'Balancing the books' on the backs of poor and disabled people was wrong when the Tories did it, and it would be wrong now. It’s a political choice - one that could push 700,000 households into poverty. Our government should instead tax the ballooning wealth of the super-rich.

Pouting, shouting at someone and declaring them "not very nice" whilst you tell them to give up their people's sovereignty, land and freedom is about as dystopian as it gets. US politics feels akin to watching a capricious small child swinging around a wrecking ball at present.

This is as bleak as it is unsurprising from a govt that continues to seek to appease the right-wing who never voted for them in the first place. Labour will never beat them at their own game at it is beyond disappointing to see it trying to. An immoral, illogical move that will cost countless lives.
