Read as often as you can. Write a little bit every day. If you want to get into writing seriously then join a group, find a critique partner, do some courses... anything that means eyes other than your own are reading your work. And most of all, write the books you want to read! #ukteenchat

Monthly reminder: Many people have a book in them, but it takes a special kind of freak to leave the Land of Laziness, cross the Plains of Procrastination and Insecurity Mountain, find the Blade of No One Made You Do This, and use it to cut your chest open and yank that book out.

We’ve interviewed 100+ agents for our Book Broker series over the last 6 years. And we’ve been in the trenches ourselves, so we know the struggle. Here’s what querying authors really need to know about writing a query letter. A thread🧵 🪓 #amquerying

If you are going to use multiple points of view, make sure the alternate POV characters are given depth, their own voice, their own distinct motivations, as well as meaningful relationships and an arc (even if subtle). #writingcommunity #writingtip

Bit of a crime scene, actually
A white candle, contained in a black glass jar, is alight and burning well. But on the left top of the candle is roughly half of a red wax gingerbread man (the candle is gingerbread scented). The remaining half has been burned away by the lit wick, creating the appearance of blood flowing from the gingerbread man across the white surface of the candle

My favourite fact about Iceland is that we have many, many crime writers but only one forensic pathologist, and he was so busy answering all of their questions that he decided to have a small seminar for writers to get some peace. It immediately sold out so he had another one that also sold out.
