Seminar title:

Getting to the root of forest carbon and root system dynamics

Bio:

Dr. Shersingh Joseph Tumber-Dávila is a terrestrial ecosystems ecologist investigating the response of ecosystems to global environmental change. Joseph’s research program addresses: 1) the above- to belowground dynamics of plants, their influence on the global carbon cycle, and their interactions with the environment, and 2) the future trajectory of forest carbon and their policy implications. Additionally, rooted in his philosophy and experiences as a Puerto Rican scientist, fostering IDEA is central to his personal ethos and is a key pillar of his collaborative scholarship. Joseph is currently the LTER Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard Forest and is joining Dartmouth College in January 2024 as an Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies. Joseph received his Ph.D. in Environmental Earth System Science from Stanford University.

Abstract:

Plants have the capacity to draw down and store vast amounts
