Today's the big day! Vote in person or drop off your ballot by 8pm. Huge special interests dumped close to $12 million into this race, but ultimately, the decision is still up to the voters. To everyone who has been with me and my team on this long journey, thank you so much!

All of this. rabbijilljacobs.substack.com/p/on-aipac-a...
I'll say again—AIPAC absolutely deserves to be criticized, sidelined, and rejected for its decades of negative influence on American foreign policy, including by working to prevent a peace deal that could have saved thousands of Israeli
and Palestinian lives, and to oppose the 2015 Iran deal, which might have prevented the most recent war and again saved thousands of lives in Iran, Israel, Lebanon, the U.S., and beyond. I wish that no politician would accept AIPAC funding. I also wish we could get Super PACs and mega corporate donors out of politics altogether. But informed criticism of AIPAC is different from casting it as the primary evil influence in American politics.Progressives have devoted significant time to understanding how oppression works, and to parsing stereotypes and slurs. Anyone who has learned anything about antisemitism knows that one of the most prevalent antisemitic myths suggests that Jews are a nefarious force who control world leaders and world events like
puppet masters through whispers and money, and who take a special delight in harming Gentile babies. Progressive leaders have a responsibility to understand the history and the danger of this stereotype, and to take care to focus on differences of policy and vision, rather than risk inflaming antisemitism. It's not actually hard to criticize elected officials based on the actual votes they have taken and the positions they have staked out. And it's not hard to criticize AIPAC or any other interest group based on their actions and on the policies they are pushing. We can do this without dehumanizing language, and without hinting at a grand Jewish conspiracy.

I'm the only Jewish candidate running in Maryland's 5th Congressional District, and yet AIPAC has spent more than $5 million supporting my opponent - Oracle lobbyist Adrian Boafo. So what exactly is AIPAC? The Democratic Party has to do better on Israel-Palestine. Election Day is TOMORROW!

In Congress, my highest foreign policy priority besides Ukraine, Gaza, and like 100 other things will be to prevent the CCP from developing all-you-can-eat shrimp technology that matches or surpasses our own.

No matter what happens on Election Day, I've already added one title this year: dad. I also don't take for granted that getting married or having a family wouldn't have been in the cards for us just a few years ago. Changes in our society have come so rapidly, but progress is not inevitable.

As we head into the last few days of this race, I hear a lot of Democrats using "affordability" as a slogan. But what’s the actual plan? Take housing and transportation. We usually treat these as separate issues, but they’re deeply interconnected.

Over the past few days, I’ve knocked on hundreds of doors and spent many hours talking to voters at early voting. I've heard the same thing over and over - something like, “Okay, I know Adrian Boafo is a Big Tech lobbyist backed by AIPAC. But who else should I support?” So, let me make my case.

To cap off 45 years in Congress, much of it spent leading AIPAC-funded propaganda trips to Israel, my 87-year-old Rep. Steny Hoyer is starring in a $2.5 million TV ad full of lies for his chosen successor, a big tech lobbyist. What a wonderful summation of the Democratic Party.

Just another Wednesday night in Maryland: AIPAC drops another $2.5 million to buy a seat in Congress for big tech lobbyist Adrian Boafo, bringing their total spend to nearly $5.4 million. There's another choice: I don't take money from AIPAC or corporate PACs. Vote by June 23.

Hey Maryland, do you want another data center in your community? Well, that sucks for you, because the political establishment is doing everything possible to buy a seat for Oracle lobbyist Adrian Boafo. Whose interests do you think he'll represent? There's another option: vote for me on June 23.

Thanks to all of our incredible volunteers who are helping us during early voting. We’re so grateful for your time, energy, and commitment to this campaign. Turnout has been light, which means a small number of votes could swing this election in our favor. EVERY VOTE COUNTS! Let's finish strong.

Hey Maryland, it's a beautiful day to go vote! Early voting is available through June 18, and Election Day is Tuesday, June 23. Make a plan to vote, or just go do it. By all accounts turnout has been quite low so far, and with so many candidates, a few votes could swing the election!

One observation I have about the Dem Party primary in-fighting is that a lot of the political operatives with proximity to the power center of the Dem Party seem to be incredulous as to why Americans organically don't like to support candidates being bribed by right-wing corporations and dark money.

They’re not even pretending the Confederate redistricting isn’t about race. Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2026/06/05/o...
Republicans in Tennessee were in such a hurry to, as one put it, "send an entire Republican delegation from Tennessee" that a state Democrat guestioned how they could have known the partisan score of the new districts they were creating. The Democrat said Republicans had used census data to draw the maps, which does not include party affiliation.

Very hard for most Americans to accept or understand this: our own government is currently waging hybrid war against Denmark (Greenland) and Canada (Alberta) as part of a Russian ploy to subvert NATO and realign international systems for the benefit of a handful of oligarchs.

ALL OF THIS from @jamellebouie.net www.nytimes.com/2026/06/03/o...
What difference will specific policy items make if there are profound obstacles to simply governing at all? A Project 2029 that has nothing to say about either the Senate filibuster, or an ideologically captured Supreme Court, or extreme partisan gerrymandering — among other concerns — is not a Project 2029 worth the time or effort.
The same is true for a Project 2029 that fails to speak to questions of constitutional authority. Democrats need a theory of constitutional power: a sense of what the Constitution is and how it both authorizes and legitimizes the kind of government they hope to build. For Trump-aligned conservatives, the Constitution is an unlimited grant of executive authority, where sovereignty lies with a president who is more Bonapartist tribune than Madisonian chief magistrate. Their American republic is not one led by and for self-governing individuals but one directed from above by an executive who claims to stand as the living embodiment of the national spirit. The entire country, in the words of the White House, must meet "the president's priorities."By contrast, it is not clear that Democrats have any sense of what they want the American Republic to be, versus a sense of the kinds of the policies they hope to institute. This is important because their constitutional vision, or lack thereot, will shape how they attempt to rebuild American democracy.
During Reconstruction, after the Civil War, Republicans worked to refound the nation as a democratic and egalitarian republic that embodied the values of the Declaration of Independence. "By the Constitution it is stipulated that 'the United States shall guaranty to every State a republican form of government, " said Senator Charles Sumner of Massachusetts in his eulogy for Abraham Lincoln, "but the meaning of this guaranty must be found in the birthday Declaration of the Republic, which is the controlling preamble of the Constitution. Beyond all question, the United States, when called to enforce the guaranty, must insist on the equality of all before the law, and the consent of the governed." Such, he continued, "is the true idea of republican government according to American institutions."It was this view that led Republicans, Radical and otherwise, to write their aspirations toward freedom and political equality into the Constitution through the 14th and 15th Amendments. It also shaped how they responded to President Andrew Johnson and hostile Supreme Court justices, who tried to trim and curtail their vision.
They did not just override Johnson's vetoes; they impeached him. And they did not just criticize the court; they took steps to tie its hands, limit its power and strip its
jurisdiction. The extent to which Republicans in this era operated as an imperial Congress was the closest this country has ever come to congressional supremacy, the result of their expansive conception of American democracy. As they look ahead to 2029 and beyond, Democrats need that kind of vision. They need, in particular, a commitment to a constitutional order centered on the power and prerogatives of Congress. And they need to begin to work through the details of what this will mean in policy and in law. It is this work that will shape how Democrats approach the major concerns of the post-Trump moment: the state of the federal bureaucracy, the scope of executive power and the problem of judicial supremacy over the political system. It is ambitious, yes. But so was Project 2025.

President of MIT not mincing words today in @statnews.com www.statnews.com/2026/05/27/s...
So let me say it as clearly as I can: Without basic scientific research, supported by the kind of farsighted public investment that allows large-scale, undirected, curiosity-driven inquiry, the scientific pipeline will run dry.
In daily life, people may not feel the effects right away, or even in 10 years. But we will feel it. And when someone we love needs therapies that could have emerged but didn't or when other countries now
investing in science can launch new science-based industries or run their societies on vast resources of fusion energy or reap the benefits of quantum computing power or advanced medical breakthroughs, America will wish it sustained its leadership in scientific research here and now.
