Ik vind dat trouwens ook een verschrikkelijk patriarchale houding. Tis toch schoon hé, hoe serieus die mensen hun religie nemen, dat is gelijk hun identiteit. Terwijl het verdomme met hetzelfde is als bij ons, toen er terecht lang en hard tegen de macht van de kerk gestreden is.

Als we het hebben over het individu, dan heb ik geen probleem met haar en veel problemen met Hegseth. Waar het hem hier over gaat is dat identiteit hier als excuus aangeroepen wordt, gezien dat exact is wat rechts ook systematisch doet. En de vergelijking met huidskleur is compleet van de pot gerukt

Ik veronderstel dat niemand die de hoofddoek verdedigt, dat ook zal doen voor Pete Hegseth zijn deus vult tattoo. Nochtans is dat ook een uiting van zijn religieuze identiteit. Ongetwijfeld is Hegseth veel fanatieker dan deze mevrouw, maar in essentie gaat het wel over hetzelfde mechanisme.

Eigenlijk totaal niet mee eens. Religie is een ideologie, en een keuze. Die heel vaak gebruikt wordt om mensen te onderdrukken trouwens. Huidskleur is dat niet. Religie staat veel dichter bij nationalisme dan bij huidskleur, verbeelde gemeenschap en zo, en daar mag (terecht) wel kritiek op komen.
