every time I say this, someone didn't know: you can get the NYRB, the New Yorker, the LRB, Paris Review, The Spectator (weirdly not New Statesman), The Week, both French & Italian Vogue & New Scientist among many many other magazines FREE via the Libby app from your local library?

Use our tool to email your MP and ask them to support motion EDM 240 and reject the EHRC’s harmful Code of Practice: equalrecognition.eaction.org.uk/rejectthecode Sending an email only takes a few minutes. Once you've done it, please ask 3 friends to do the same.

Yes, that's a very good point. I agree - the shock factor for those not keeping track of the deterioration of trans rights has worn off to some degree, so important to challenge with renewed vigour. :)

However, I do ultimately agree Greens can and should do better by adding their names to the early day motion and putting out a stronger statement of support for trans people

To be factually accurate, to avoid misleading and causing more alarm, leading to knee jerk reactions. There was no opportunity to disapply the legislation because it wasn't a proper debate. Cat Eccles asks if it will be debated here: hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2026...

I agree Zack Polanski's statement on bsky left a lot to be desired but, as noted by other replies on the original thread, it's misleading to frame this as an official debate on the laying of the EHRC. It was a junior minister's statement at the closing of the day. In times like this, it's important

I'm not saying we should abandon electrical technology, it's very good. But I will say I think we should return to mechanical means for many things. You do not need an app for your door lock. You do not need a smart fridge. You do not need a coffee machine with a camera. Bring back the mechanical.

I also find myself considering how genAI is positioned as objective and unbiased which is, of course, untrue. But the decrease in general literacy and myth of lack of bias in genAI is concerning against the backdrop of the world... Lots to ponder!

These 7 authors raise a lot of salient questions about the state of literature, which I've seen echoed in concerns about decreasing media literacy and disenfranchisement from our own ability to think and create via the push to use genAI. I found myself thinking back to when I worked in publishing

Double check www.w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg... For tabs and radio elements, arrow keys are used to navigate between the options not the TAB key (that's used to navigate between tab and interactive content inside tab). So what you've said sounds right but again would always recommend WAI ARIA patterns.

I was also forced to watch a video as part of the sign up rigmarole for Twickenham Stadium, with no options to change the speed or even track where I was in the video. Although there were captions (I think), there was no alternative, e.g. a transcript. Felt poorly designed for UX and inaccessible.

I really despise that stadiums have started enforcing app downloads to access tickets, which inevitably includes forced sign up (including unnecessary collection of personal data). Even if it's supposed to protect from scalpers, it feels like a shameless data grab.

Don't trust "AI" and also realize that the push to have "AI" in everything happened because some tech people wanted to get rich and other tech people didn't want others to get rich without them, and now they've all spent too much money on a bad product and are trying to scramble out of the hole.
