For @newrepublic.com I wrote about ICE's recent campaign of airport arrests, and the intentional vagueness about who is or isn't potentially subject to detention as part of the administration's broader narrative campaign of fear, intended to drive immigrants from public life

Men's complaints today: we are horribly oppressed because a woman translated Homer. Women's complaints: see Heidi Blake's utterly horrific report on the Tate brothers' long campaign of rape, violent physical and psychological abuse, and trafficking of, apparently, hundreds of women.
In the political landscape that Tate helped create, women hold an increasingly precarious position. These days, the far-right podcaster Nick Fuentes will openly say that women should be kept in “breeding gulags,” and the ultra-popular Joe Rogan will host a just-asking-questions discussion about whether the feminist revolution was a huge mistake. Influential Christian leaders are calling to repeal women’s suffrage. A man was elected President after being held liable for sexual assault.

Even in this milieu, Tate’s violent rhetoric stands out. “I saw a woman crossing the road today but I just kept my foot down,” he posted after Trump’s reëlection. “Right of way? You no longer have rights.” His influence is being felt around the world. Last year, a seventeen-year-old boy in New Jersey allegedly drove his car into two teen-age girls, killing them both, after joking on a live stream about women getting raped by Tate. In Britain, a man who had recently watched about ten of Tate’s videos raped his ex-girlfriend and murdered her, her mother, and her sister using a crossbow. British police have warned that Tate’s teachings are radicalizing young men in a “terrifying” manner and declared that violence against women is a national emergency.

Congress has a duty to completely defund and shut down Jack Smith's Office. He had no legal standing to bring these charges in the first place.
A separate special committee should be formed immediately to investigate him, press charges, and hold him and his handlers accountable for the untold harms they caused to the integrity of our criminal justice system - starting with the election interference committed by Smith, who is following the marching orders of Merrick Garland, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris, in prosecuting Donald Trump.Paul Ingrassia & GP

GENEVA, July 11 (Reuters) - The U.N. rights office said on Friday it had recorded at least 798 killings within the past six weeks at aid points in Gaza run by the U.S.- and Israeli-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation and near convoys run by other relief groups.
The GHF uses private U.S. security and logistics companies to get supplies into Gaza, largely bypassing a U.N.-led system that Israel alleges has let Hamas-led militants loot aid shipments intended for civilians. Hamas denies the allegation.

Per this lawyer, the mother of 3 US citizens, among others, has been abducted by “bounty hunters” at gunpoint, brought to CBP, where they demanded she sign deportation papers without seeing a judge. When she refused, she was literally disappeared by the armed “bounty hunters” at the behest of CBP.
Team @immdef has spent all morning desperately searching for Juli, a mom of 3 US citizens who has lived in LA for 21 years. 3 nights ago Juli was on her way to work when she was forcibly taken at gunpoint by men who in a short call to family she described as “bounty hunters.” 🧵Juli called family from blocked # last night & said she was initially taken with others from LA by bounty hunters to CBP near San Ysidro where officers demanded they sign papers to be deported. CBP said she was brought there because she had agreed to a voluntary deportation.

When she & others in group asked for lawyers & to see a judge, CBP returned all who refused to sign to bounty hunters’ van. They were then taken by the unknown armed men to a warehouse in a remote, unknown location. She is still there. We can’t find her in online detainee locator

Juli described to family that men & women are being held together in the remote warehouse. There are no beds, no blankets and no showers. There is no food and the only water source is the sink. Juli has not seen any uniformed ICE or CBP officers since arriving at the warehouse.

NEW: As the Trump admin is flying Afrikaners here today to be resettled as "refugees," @Sec_Noem is terminating Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan — meaning they may start deporting women and allies who protected our troops to the Taliban to be persecuted or killed!
DHS Terminating Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan
WASHINGTON – Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem today announced the termination of Temporary Protected Status for Afghanistan. The TPS designation for the country expires on May 20, 2025, and the termination will be effective on July 12, 2025.

At least 60 days before a TPS designation expires, the Secretary, after consultation with appropriate U.S. government agencies, is required to review the conditions in a country designated for TPS to determine whether the conditions supporting the designation continue to be met, and if so, how long to extend the designation.

“This administration is returning TPS to its original temporary intent,” said Secretary Kristi Noem. “We’ve reviewed the conditions in Afghanistan with our interagency partners, and they do not meet the requirements for a TPS designation. Afghanistan has had an improved security situation, and its stabilizing economy no longer prevent them from returning to their home country. Additionally, the termination furthers the national interest as DHS records indicate that there are recipients who have been under investigation for fraud and threatening our public safety and national security. Reviewing TPS designations is a key part of restoring integrity in our immigration system.”

After consultation with interagency partners, Secretary Noem determined that conditions in Afghanistan no longer meet the statutory requirements. The Secretary’s decision was based on a U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services review of the country conditions and in consultation with the Department of State. The Secretary determined that, overall, there are notable improvements in the security and economic situation such that requiring the return of Afghan nationals to Afghanistan does not pose a threat to their personal safety due to ongoing-armed conflict or extraordinary and temporary conditions. She further determined that permitting Afghan nationals to remain t…
