I regret to inform you that Claude Fable is very good at writing technical tutorials. Here are 10 notebooks in both Python and R using @bsky.app @atproto.com to run common social data science tasks: search, SNA, replies, time series, NLP, images, LLMs, feeds, streams, and bots.

Day 5 of #30DayChartChallenge: Experimental — first time making a beeswarm! The big HR hitters get the attention, but the interesting story is the floor rising. Mean HR for a qualified batter: 12.4 in the 1980s → 17.1 in the 2020s. Everybody’s swinging for the fences. #rstats #dataviz

Rasmus Andersson is having a great bounceback season, posing as a dangerous dual-threat on offence and good two-way skills in transition. Zach Whitecloud is a good defensive #4/5. More offensive time open for Parekh now, but there remains a logjam at D in Calgary. 📈 lb-hockey.com

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this: America's problems are solved problems. Just not here. What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵
Screenshot of a data visualization titled “The Cost of American Exceptionalism,” subtitled “What would change if the U.S. matched the OECD average?” The page explains that each card shows how outcomes would change if the U.S. matched the average of 31 peer democracies. Below, a section labeled “Economy & Inequality” displays eight cards comparing U.S. figures to OECD averages. Highlights include: +$19K per household per year in redistributed income and +$96K in redistributed wealth if the top 1% matched OECD shares; a 71% lower CEO-to-worker pay ratio (from 354× to 101×); 50 million more workers with union coverage; 26 million more people with health insurance; $2.1 trillion saved annually in healthcare spending; $691 less per person per year in prescription drug costs; and intergenerational economic mobility being twice as high. Each card shows the U.S. value alongside the OECD average.

Time and time again, the Calgary #Flames refuse to properly rebuild in fear of becoming the Buffalo Sabres. Newsflash, they already are the Buffalo Sabres.
thewincolumn.ca
The Calgary Flames are scared of becoming the Buffalo Sabres. The numbers say they already are.
In a season in which the Calgary Flames have sat in the basement of the NHL standings for over two months, the organization continues to move forward business as usual. Now entering the midway point of the 2025-26 season with the playoffs a distant dream, the organization refuses to admit defeat. Whether it's directly from team President Dan Maloney or countless NHL insiders, we continue to hear that this team has no plans to rebuild.
