After two years of seeing people openly display racism against Jews and Israelis on British streets, advocating terrorism and Islamism, and mostly getting away with it scot-free, I'm unsympathetic to those who suddenly discover violent racism to be a problem, or who think Musk is to blame.

A gentle whisper, the wind's soft sigh, Lifts tiny seeds to the open sky. From a fluffy crown, they drift and dance, Each a small hope, a future's chance. Carried on currents, light and free, To find new ground, where life will be. #photography #NaturePhotography #nature #photo #fall

For me, long-term (15 years) usage of Twitter meant a great broadening of my perspective, gradual moderation, and becoming much more normie centrist in my opinions. More loudly normie, though.

This is a very good post from John Matthews (scribejohn.bsky.social) on housing problems in Spain, esp. social housing, & how the present Spanish govt & the Spanish 'left-wing' are only making it all worse, by attacking Brits, Israelis, & tourism in general. scribejohn.substack.com/p/no-israeli...

No Israelis... No Brits

Archly left-wing, has Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez lost the plot when it comes to Israelis as well as visiting and property-buying Brits.

So @danielsugarman.bsky.social has written a very good post on what Jews, and anyone who supports them and Israel against racism, in NYC and further afield in the USA can expect, given the experience in the Corbyn years in Britain: cc. @lauferlaw.bsky.social :: www.jewishnews.co.uk/comment-i-ex...

OPINION: The Corbyn years shows what’s coming. New York’s Jews should take note - Jewish News

Jews in NYC should understand what happened across the Atlantic when preparing for the coming months

A big round flower bud. An ant crawls on one side. A beautiful ladybug - but no, all ladybugs are beautiful - is posing on top of the bud.

Megan McArdle on, "How one meeting in 2020 and a GOP senator helped create RFK Jr.’s vaccine wreck: liberal ideology & Republican politics laid groundwork for Kennedy’s remaking of the CDC’s vaccine panel": archive.ph/4WeNd

"In a survey conducted in August 2020, most Americans said that as soon as health-care workers were inoculated with the coronavirus vaccine, we should have started vaccinating the highest-risk groups in order of their vulnerability: seniors first, then immunocompromised people, then other essential workers. Instead of adopting this sensible plan, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory committee decided to inoculate essential workers ahead of seniors, even though its own modeling suggested this would increase deaths by up to 7 percent.
Why did they do this? Social justice. The word “equity” came up over and over in the discussion — essential workers, you see, were more likely than seniors to come from “marginalized communities.” Only after a backlash did sanity prevail."

True, but it's also a far less popular theology than many claim. The days of Hal Lindsey are long over, and the majority of American evangelicals have matured. This was also never a major movement anywhere else.

Gurdur @gurdur.bsky.social · 15/06/2025

Today, in Duesseldorf, Germany. #RunForTheirLives is a worldwide loose movement championing the hostages held by the terrorist Hamas in Gaza. By the way, it was a Run For Their Lives protest that was attacked by the homicidal Islamist in Boulder, Colorado.

same red squirrel (and this one is very young, perhaps only born early this year), photographed through the kitchen window this morning

Through the kitchen window this morning. European red squirrel, Sciurus vulgaris, which is smaller and more timid than its American cousins

absolutely TINY young squirrel

Also through my kitchen window, and I am overjoyed, since for a long while no squirrels came visiting. This one is very young, and new:

anyway, in OTHER news, a photo through my kitchen window

Tonight is a real turning-point in overall world history. Before, it looked like we were locked into a path of timid handwringing leading to slow destruction; now we all might have a chance of avoiding really bad events and developments, and the Iranian people may have a chance to free themselves.
