It's already been ruined once thanks to Brexit. Marvellous. Small-minded, petty and vindictive.

I have never felt as protected from misfortune by a nation state as I have in Spain. I work hard and pay my taxes, and when I fucked up my shoulder, a surprisingly generous welfare state caught me as I fell. 1/

Yes, quite depressing reading the lyrics and finding it still relevant 45 years (yes, 45 years) later. Bloody incredibly depressing.

I had typed a long reply but my well-being timer cut me off! Anyway, animals find kind folks, if they need finding. My hour or so at the vets, with our dog today, showed me the highs and lows of all that. It's an honour to have them in our lives. 🙏

I don't mind Debbie. I'd still be carrying my leftovers and sarnies to work (in my trusty shopping trolley - as they do in Spain). Blimey, if I worked at the uni still, I wouldn't be able to afford anything BUT a packed lunch these days.

Sounds like a good place to me. In Spain being a camarero/a is a decent profession. No idea what the wage is, but I think it's decent. Of course, depends where you are, and where you work. Staff work very hard too, yet tipping is not such a thing here. People do tip but it doesn't substitute wages.

Glad I went to uni BM (before mobiles). In fact, before the internet and affordable PCs! I had to type my thesis on a jumble sale typewriter. Finally, I had a use for my Pitman's typing qualification my dad made me do! Once a week call home. That was it.

Plus cafe con leche has gone up to €1.40. It's only a small town with a pretty captive audience. In larger towns it's only 1.20. That's a big increase.

Yeah, bakery bread is the same price but quite a bit smaller/narrower. (I'm in Spain by the way). They tried putting the price up, and kept the usual size. Must have been a rebellion, cos now it's old price but considerably smaller. Same with bottled water. 1l not 1.25l... same price.

My mum also used to wash Bounty kitchen paper in the machine (in a net bag) and reuse resealable food bags. I wash the bags and have a fine collection of tubs and jars.

Well well well, look what we have here, if it isn't the Terrorism Act 2000! Patriot Patrol's actions in Dover fall clearly under section 1 b) and c), and I'd also argue 2 d). Even if not, keep in mind this is the UK legal definition of terrorism, so this was used to proscribe Palestine Action.
Terrorism: interpretation.
(1)In this Act “terrorism” means the use or threat of action where—

(a)the action falls within subsection (2),

(b)the use or threat is designed to influence the government [F1or an international governmental organisation] or to intimidate the public or a section of the public, and

(c)the use or threat is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious [F2, racial] or ideological cause.

(2)Action falls within this subsection if it—

(a)involves serious violence against a person,

(b)involves serious damage to property,

(c)endangers a person’s life, other than that of the person committing the action,

(d)creates a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public, or

(e)is designed seriously to interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system.

(3)The use or threat of action falling within subsection (2) which involves the use of firearms or explosives is terrorism whether or not subsection (1)(b) is satisfied.

(4)In this section—

(a)“action” includes action outside the United Kingdom,

(b)a reference to any person or to property is a reference to any person, or to property, wherever situated,

(c)a reference to the public includes a reference to the public of a country other than the United Kingdom, and

(d)“the government” means the government of the United Kingdom, of a Part of the United Kingdom or of a country other than the United Kingdom.

(5)In this Act a reference to action taken for the purposes of terrorism includes a reference to action taken for the benefit of a proscribed organisation.
