#NixOS question: I installed a #Nix package on a headless server that has no option to change the baseURL. What is the best way to access it from my laptop? A reverse proxy? Package in question: search.nixos.org/options?channel=26…

Last two weeks went from 'let's see if I can get a #NixOS LXC running in #Proxmox ' to redesigning and rebuilding the entire #homeserver around #nix_flakes really quick.

I have just finished Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth, and I truly believe that this is one of the best VNs ever written (with a pretty good RPG combat system, to boot!) I had originally played Mask of Deception/Truth having only seen the anime of the first game, and this was a mistake.

The Torneko remaster is subtitled “-Classic HD-“ in English but in Japanese it’s subtitled 「ちょっとステキなリマスター」, roughly “A Pretty Nice Remaster”

Colours of #Pokopia on the #NintendoSwitch2 look 'washed out' on the TV compared to the built-in screen. I adjusted my settings according to the HGiG setups I find online, but the difference is still vast. Is that just me or do others have similar experiences?

After what felt like forever I finished #FinalFantasy16 . I didn't like it very much. I found it a mediocre story told and presented beautifully, strung together by boring gameplay. Phoenix downing myself with #Pokopia and #ApothecaryDiaries right now. #AmPlaying #PS5 #JRPG #Games

In one episode Miffy's father mentions the "back-up drive of the back-up drive" and my inquisitive daughter asks me what that means. She probably wanted to just finish the episode instead of sitting through a 15-minute lecture on our backup infrastructure.

Brother was visiting me and wanted to pass time so I gave him the first volume of Witch Hat Atelier to read. A day later he's read 5 volumes and says he's annoyed he has to leave while there's still so many volumes to read.

Installed a rain barrel in the garden. Levelled the surface last night, hooked it up this morning. Should be just in time for this month's rain.

Just spent five minutes logging in to a service because #CAPTCHA really wanted me to "select all squares with a vehicle". Apparently vehicles are alien to me. Just let me click on fire hydrants until there are none left.

For anyone wondering why the translation of Kamaitachi no Yoru is such a big deal, I'd highly recommend giving my video about Chunsoft's sound novel series a watch. It's a bit long, but it goes into the long history behind why these games were so influential in Japan. www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9BT...

I also finished books! #UrsulaKLeGuin 's Powers, the last and longest of the Annals of the Western Shore trilogy, took me too long for how good the book really is, so to cleanse my palette a little I've switched to non-fiction for a bit.

I finished #FinalFantasy9 , which was beautiful and fun (thanks to the ability to speed up battles) and Memories of Life will never not give me goosebumps. Not a fan of Zidane, but the scene where Not Alone plays was superb. Such a great cast, art direction and music.

Also treated myself to my first mechanical keyboard, replacing the ergonomical work horse that served me well the past 15 years. The sound it makes is very nostalgic. :ablobcatrave:

Restored the eldest's ChromeOS installation per her request. She was fine with Debian, but it was too slow for this olde hardwaer. In return, I blocked all internet access with whitelisted exceptions, like wikikids.nl.

Halfway through #FinalFantasy9 disc-wise. It's superb, wish I had more time to pick up the pace a little.

Change disc screen from Final Fantasy IX, which consists of shots from full-motion videos.

During my lunch break I explored a part of #Leiden I don't usually visit. Wish my neighbourhood loved plants as much as they love (parking) their cars (on the pavement).

A street with houses partially covered in greenery. There's an orange hose in the foreground and a bike halfway through the street.

Cute neighbour garden. The gate is covered in grape vines. A cutely decorated sign on the left reads 'Welkom in de buurttuin'.

Biked the eldest to a party and claimed the time until pickup for myself. I can think of worse ways to spend three hours than reading #UrsulaKLeGuin at this very bench in #Warmond .

#Homeserver running #Proxmox has been unreliable for a couple of weeks now. Random restarts (no proper reboots) and now it completely locked up the one night I was out. Can't identify the cause, logs don't indicate anything. Thinking about adding a second node to improve availability.

Forgot my wife got me this notebook during our visit to the National #Ainu Museum in #Upopoy . Its design is based on a embroidery on a mantari (waist apron) found in the museum. It's believed mantari is derived from the Japanese word for apron, 前垂れ (maedare).
