Brightwell Barrow, from the Oxfordshire Series by Anna Dillon @annadillon.bsky.social This will also be a familiar viewpoint to Paul Nash fans, but I think Anna's version here is far better. More information and prints below; annadillon.com/brightwell.html

At the inspiring #CecilSharpHouse for a day of folk music. #EllieGowers opened the show, with an hour of beautiful guitar and vocals inspired by her Canadian tour.

Guys guys guys, I found the archive of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures (it's not an achievement, they've not hidden them) - you can watch every single one since they started televising them in the 60s: www.rigb.org/christmas-le... I love watching them every year, now I can see them all!

I don't know if @dieworkwear.bsky.social knows who on earth Morcambe & Wise are (legendary in the UK) but you gotta say those suits are a delight.

Meet the destroyer HMS Glowworm. In April 1940 she was forced to fight the German Heavy Cruiser Admiral Hipper, ten times her size, and Hipper's destroyer escorts. Her extraordinary last stand earned her captain the first Victoria Cross of WW2. In part because THE GERMANS nominated him for one /1 🧵

Aurora visible to the naked eye near Cambridge, as a pale red / purple glow across the northern horizon. An 8 second camera exposure reveals more detail of the structure. First time I've seen this, an amazing sight.
A view of the northern sky looking across the silhouette of trees and rooftops. Green aurora glows across the horizon, with vertical rays visible just above the trees. At the centre of the image Jupiter shines bright in the eastern sky. To the left a red ribbon of aurora rises vertically from the horizon to the top of the image. A faint green glow is visible across the horizon. The image is framed to the right by the dark silhouette of the house.

Today I was introduced to what was described as the Worst Plot In Exoplanet Science, and frankly, it is a work of art
A hellishly confusing plot that combines the mass-radius ratio, surface flux, composition, and surface temperature of exoplanets, plus a couple of other things I can't even identify, all crammed on top of each other in a single space.
