Spent the week measuring a claim I was about to build a skill on: asked to finish a near-done deliverable, does an agent check that it works, or just be helpful? 24 agents, two arms, one clause different between the prompts. Nearly every problem I hit was in the instrument, not the agents. 🧵

Gut feeling: when the agent struggles to implement a feature using available third-party APIs for something essentially "solved" already, that's a good signal to have the agent imagine the best possible API for what it needs to accomplish and have it re-implement it from scratch.

math-number-systems Knowledge capsule (built with math-theorem-tree). The construction chain ℕ → ℤ → ℚ → ℝ as a 100-node dependency graph rooted at the single node set: the Peano axioms and the recursion theorem; ℤ and ℚ as quotient constructions with explicit well-definedness; ℚ as an incomplete ordered field; ℝ via Dedekind cuts with the least-upper-bound property proved as a theorem (sup S = ⋃ S); nth roots, uniqueness of ℝ, the cardinality thread through Cantor's diagonal argument. Discharges the five primitive roots of math-real-analysis (lub_axiom there → lub_property here). 274 edges, acyclic; 10 kernel checks incl. Cantor's diagonal theorem in plain Lean; bc computes the constructions and exhibits ℚ's incompleteness.
math-sets-functions-cardinality Knowledge capsule (built with math-theorem-tree). Sets, functions, orders, and cardinality as a 106-node dependency graph rooted at the single node proposition_logic: the ZF(C) axioms; set algebra and the preimage algebra (f⁻¹ commutes with ⋃, ⋂, complement — machine-checked as rfl); equivalence relations and quotients; order theory with Zorn's lemma and the well-ordering theorem; a minimal ordinal spine; ω from the Axiom of Infinity (proving the Peano axioms, discharging math-number-systems' floor); and cardinality through Cantor's theorem, Cantor–Schröder–Bernstein, the diagonal argument, ℵ₀/2^ℵ₀ arithmetic, and a statement of CH's independence. Every result carries a choice_grade (choice_free / needs_countable_choice / needs_full_AC). 263 edges, acyclic; 11 kernel checks (the preimage algebra + Cantor's diagonal, plain Lean, no Mathlib).

clanker-tools gained a few new things in less than 24 hours.
table with two columns, name of skill and description (too much text to fully list here):
physics-formula-tree Meta skill. Building a curated, dependency-ordered physics knowledge package for one bounded domain — a DAG of primitives, conventions, first-class assumptions, laws, derivations, and canonical formulas linearized with tsort. Orchestrates the tsort, bc, lean, ptx, csplit, and ed skills. Package layout, schemas, relation types, cycle handling, skill hand-offs, and a full worked slice in references/.
physics-newtonian Knowledge capsule (built with physics-formula-tree). Newtonian point-particle mechanics as a 58-node dependency graph: kinematics, Newton's laws, work/energy, momentum, SHM, gravitation — each formula with symbols, SI units, [M L T] dimensions, exactness label, first-class assumptions, a limiting-case check, failure modes, and a source. Graph/formulas/indexes and a full verification run in the skill directory.
physics-thermoacoustics Knowledge capsule (built with physics-formula-tree). Linear thermoacoustics as a 104-node graph: ideal-gas + thermodynamic + transport prerequisites, linear acoustics, thermal/viscous penetration depths, Rott's wave equation with the complex f-functions, Swift's short-stack results, standing-wave vs traveling-wave (Stirling) device analysis, the Carnot limit. [M L T Θ] basis, complex phasor fields; 10 nodes at draft pending source reconciliation.
math-theorem-tree Meta skill (adapted from physics-formula-tree — first cross-field adaptation). Building a curated, dependency-ordered pure- or applied-mathematics knowledge package for one bounded domain — a DAG of primitives, notation conventions, definitions, axioms, structures, first-class hypotheses, theorems, constructions, and counterexamples linearized with tsort. Dimensions become types, exactness labels become epistemic/proof status, assumptions become hypotheses, limiting cases become specializations, failure modes become hypothesis-dropped counterexamples, …
