Today I saw the new 4 hour documentary Musk, directed by Alex Gibney. There were too many times to count that a sold out theater burst out laughing at Elon Musk, something he said or did, even sometimes just how he looked. I believe that is his worst nightmare come to life.

When we think of racism in this country, we are taught to think of spectacle. We picture the young man lying dead in the street. The child weeping as their parent is pulled out of their grasp. The hordes of people (very fine though they may be) holding tiki torches and mowing down protesters. Racism looks like a swastika. Racism looks like a noose.
But the truth is, so much of racism barely looks like anything at all. It is the way a form gets sorted; the way a line gets drawn on a map; the mundane ways that people with excess try to give their kids everything they had and more, while calling it love and believing it to be so. Racism is a trillion tiny.
