Vought is breaking the law but he is not “going rogue.” At his confirmation hearings, Vought told Republicans he would do this and they voted for him anyway. If they want to stop him, they still can via impeachment. They won’t.

Five corporations control 90% of the US media. Airlines have merged from 12 major carriers in 1980 to 4 today. A handful of companies control the pharmaceutical industry. Four giants control 80% of meat processing. The evidence of corporate concentration is everywhere.

If executive branch creates a system so that people under government control can be located and then just stops listing some people in that system — despite their still being under government control — that should be a five-alarm fire for the other branches, the states, and the public.

I asked Claude (forgive me) to evaluate Trump's new triumphal arch lunacy on security grounds. This sound about right to me. Any human experts want to weigh in? And I dare them to produce any memo from anyone in the military, legitimately dated before this morning, reflecting a "strong request."
Distance is the main problem. The arch is nowhere near most of what it would supposedly protect. The White House is nearly two miles away, and the Lincoln Memorial is roughly half a mile. Counter-sniper overwatch works when the team is close to the protectee or the crowd and has a clear, short line to likely threat positions. Practical urban engagements are generally far shorter than what a 250-foot perch would imply, and buildings, trees, and terrain break up long sightlines.

Fixed positions are predictable. Counter-sniper teams normally deploy at temporary positions chosen for a specific event, and they change with each event's threat picture. A permanent, publicly announced, very tall structure is the opposite. Anyone planning an attack would know exactly where the overwatch is.

Drones are a different question. Rapid drone capability could have real defensive uses for surveillance, response, or countering hostile drones. But that doesn't require a 250-foot arch, and it says nothing about the sniper claim.

Storage cuts both ways. A stockpile of ammunition and equipment in a heavily visited spot next to a major bridge and a national cemetery adds a security burden of its own: access control, safe storage, and a new target.

The image showcases a full uniform concept worn by a male model against a dark gray background:
Uniform Views: Full front and back views depict a dark slate gray tunic and matching trousers tucked into knee-high, polished black leather riding boots. The jacket features a high Mandarin-style collar, black epaulets, and a black belt with a rectangular silver buckle.
Design Inspiration: A text block notes the design is "inspired by the discipline and functionality of the Starship Trooper uniform, modernized for the Guardians of the space domain."
Color Palette: Swatches listed include Space Gray, Midnight Black, Silver Gray, and Satin Black.
Detailed Insets: Close-up panels highlight the collar insignia, shoulder piping detail, sleeve patch with the Space Force delta, belt buckle, a peaked "Service Dress Cap," and rank insignia examples ranging from O-1 to O-7.

This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,
