Reading "Programming Windows 95" by Charles Petzold (1996), the author mentions a possible future "500-Mhz 786". And if 586/686/786 are Pentium I/II/III, then the guess is actually correct: according to Wikipedia, Pentium III's clock rate was 450 MHz to 1.4 GHz. Kind of amazing

There is nothing really wrong with the MULTI1 program. Using the Windows timer is a fine way to simulate multitasking in earlier versions of Windows and Windows 95. However, the use of the timer sometimes restricts the speed of a program. If the program can update all its windows within a single WM_TIMER message with time to spare, then it’s not taking full advantage of the machine.

One possible solution is to perform two or more updates during a single WM_TIMER message. But how many? That would have to depend on the speed of the machine, and that is a major variable. One would not want to write a program tuned only to a 25-Mhz 386 or a 50-Mhz 486 or a 500-Mhz 786.

New video! It's about time for another Wii homebrew project! Because thanks to some recent developments, it's possible to get NetBSD working on this thing. Oh... and it's the latest version too! youtu.be/KO9bNwE3Vps

C++ fun: forgot to delete the copy-constructor. The default one copied some pointers to functions. Then the original class instance was destructed, causing the DLL to unload from memory. Another library was loaded in the same address space, causing my function pointers to call some other random DLL🙃

Finally got Internet set up at home. The contract came bundled with IP telephony, so I made sure to buy a suitable device 😁 This particular model was manufactured between 1963 and 1968 and still works!

From 1996 to 2003, KTEH would air various anime series on Sunday nights. The block was the first television station in the U.S. to air Neon Genesis Evangelion (subtitled). Many of the anime series were the result of pledge drives supported by the local anime community.

New video! The Dreamcast just got a whole lot more crafty! Today we're gonna explore the port of ClassiCube to Sega's last home console. Oh... and it's got both split-screen and online multiplayer support too. This should be fun! youtu.be/meOFRX9_0kM
