30 years ago today, the Nintendo 64 was officially released in North America. However, some retailers began selling the console 3 days prior without Nintendo's permission. This combined with high customer demand made Nintendo authorize retailers to sell the console early.

On this day in 1997, Microsoft invested $150 million in Apple. This largely symbolic investment was apart of a settlement agreement between the 2 companies over the stolen QuickTime code incident. It did NOT save Apple from bankruptcy, as is often claimed.
