iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Also, i would not assume someone is a bluesky expert bc they ask for alt text on bluesky. It's rather a false assumption that could lead to unfortunate conversations, especially on social media

000

Perhaps, but someone asking is necessary the expert. I work with blind students who aren't tech experts, they are just trying to get through algebra.

000

It can, but it's not always great-depends on what you use. Of course, you have to know what you want it to say bc AI doesn't think about what it should say, especially if you're explaining a nuance of a photo. You could spend more time on AI. Also, personally, doing yourself just has advantages.

000

It can be a lot, for sure, but starting with alt text on socials is a great place to start considering the reliance of these spaces

That's great. Let's of great work in this area, and I hope the resources will help. Happy to privide more.

However, in bluesky when you post a photo there is the option to add alt text. Hit the button and a box will open that allows you to post the text, image description, etc. If you go into settings you can, it seems, require alt text before the image is posted

On someone, that is what is happening. Even searching alt text in bluesky works.

Respectfully, people who work as professional communicator should also know the basics of communicating. I have spent a lot of years looking up stuff I didn't know that's how we learn. The words alt text can be searched. And while I am sure you don't intend to sound like you're throwing this back

200

I didn't see your response. Yes, it is. Love that the poster blocked instead of learning how to do one small thing to be a better person.

000

In bluesky, or in general? And while I am happy to, that is also something you can look up and learn more about the importance of digital accessibility and how to do it across media.

Here’s how! Go to “Accessibility” in Bluesky settings and turn that first switch on. Never forget alt text again.

Accessibility menu in Bluesky settings

Alt text - require alt text before posting - switch to ON

We want everyone to have a good life with safe and easy access to watching and/or playing cricket. When we take over the United Nations or whatever body succeeds it, this will become principle number one and codified into international law.

That's awesome. I abhor mushrooms, or that wellington would sound delightful. I have been playing around with root veg version, but haven't committed to a standing recipe

Oh, i saw this! I took a screen shot for future idea! When you said roast i was thinking literally. Living in my bubble, i reckon.

What type of roast? You're veg, yah?

And...what ya drinkin'?

The comments were great, and I don't think that often. I was a bit disappointed in the clip of the rolling stone write up about it. I am acustomed to ignorant internet posts, but did expect more from r.s.

It's music, not a famine or a war. I haven't heard it, and less a bubble, a rock? I dont listen to much american music, I don't consume social media. This is the dumbest judgement to come out this week (not you, these writers/posters with their judgy ideas about pop culture)

Too bad not enough people are noticing a lack of alt text and becoming someone who will add alt text to inages they post

It will be in metas tos that they can do whatever the eff they want.

Yeah, id rather whatsapp someone (but maybe because im so used to it in Pakistan and Qatar) than have to scroll through their facebook 'website'. stop demanding everyone else be all over the internet and have a way contact to contact, and whatssapp does thar. Ppl can still review on google/yelp

I have a student whose mom wears them for that reason, amd we have two BLV students who wear them for assistance. I hate when gross folks make somethjng that happens to help rather than talented people just making something that helps and is affordable
